If I leave my 2007 idling for 20 minutes (e.g. keep my wife warm while I go into the store), I start experiencing transmission slips when I begin driving again. RPM high ... then a jerk as it goes into gear. It can happen at each shift.

I just did some trailer pulling (about 800 miles) and had no trouble ... up to 75 mph ... ran great. EXCEPT after idling a while.

Is this a symptom anyone recognizes? Do I need to get it to the transmission shop?

Thanks!

Yes check your fluid level. The dipstick is on the passenger side of the transmission up by the catalyst. You will see a plug above the pan loosen that and check it at cold idle to a life burns. It should be a bit below the hash marks....if you don’t see any it needs some more fluid. Has it ever been changed out?
