2009 Front Passengers Side Axle Seal Replacement

Hey All - been searching for a video or info on a 2009 front passengers side axle seal replacement. Looks like the CV axle shaft is a female part and the axle is a male. See photos I snagged from around the web. I understand that I'll need to remove the axle shaft from the diff to remove the seal. Can you remove the axel shaft from the diff without opening up the diff? Does it just pull out? Any tips? Just looking to know what I am getting into before I get in there.
