I have a 2010 with 123k. Was a company truck always parked inside before me. Got it and starting to have some long crank problems on the first start of the day or after sitting for 8.5hrs while at work. If you drive it off and on throughout the day starts perfect everytime.

When it starts heavy smoke cloud of unburnt fuel smell. Not losing coolant or oil.

Thought is leaking Injector? Changed plugs and had 3 and 6 smell and were wet. Anyone have this issue?

I have cycled the key a few times to see if its a fuel pump but does not seem to change how it starts

Changed out all injectors. Issue does not seem to have changed. Will this take awhile for the computer to reset? O2 sensor codes came back on after resetting them.

On OB2 live data fuel sys 1 is showing OL Fault

Anyone else have any options on what to try or test???

Throttle body sensor? Are there any regulators or sensors for the fuel system?

I’d suspect a failing fuel pressure regulator (which I believe is part of the fuel pump assembly on your vehicle).

When the pressure regulator fails partially, it allows the fuel system pressure to bleed-off over a period of time (such as overnight).

With the first start after being shut-off overnight, it takes a while of engine cranking to build-up the fuel system pressure.

If you drive it, then park it, and restart soon - the fuel pressure has not bled-off yet (that is why the quick starts during the day).

When you cycle the key - do you turn it to the run position and wait several seconds, then shut-off? If you do this several times in a row, it should cause the fuel pump to run and build line pressure. Then, turn the key to start and see if it starts.

One or more defective oxygen sensors can cause the engine to run rich, causing the symptoms you described. Once the engine is started, it may run rich.

You may have two issues as described.

I was going to run some fuel pressure tests also. I have cycled the key multiple times before starting but it never seemed to change my outcome. But definitely worth another shot.

Have O2 sensors on order. Going to clean throttle body also. Vehicle had a ton of idle hours before I purchased it.

Same problem here, it seems. 2012 with O2 codes since I got her 6yrs ago (even after changing faulty sensor... maybe needs cats or injectors?)

Anyway, my cold start issue started recently on a trip into the mountains. Seems worse below 60 degrees. Today is around 60, tomorrow much colder. Thought it was bad gas, but after a few week I think temp.

I bought coolant and cylinder temp sensors, but could not find where they go. There is a plastic one i might look for next.

Also bought a fuel pump relay unit... forget what its called exactly, but might try to install that today. Think it goes back by spare tire.

Will keep you up to date... maybe time for a backup car

For me, key cycling helped, so I believe my problem is fuel pump and/or leaky injector.

Been needing to do injectors forever... guess I'll do both.

After Injectors I ran some live data was showing alcohol percentage at 77%. Reset the computer seems to be doing well now. Idk if it thought it was running e85 from injector cleaner or what. Ran 2 tanks of premium through it also been starting normal so far temps down into single digits
