Got the idea from another member to create a thread just to document my ownership of this Expedition.

I picked it up a week ago, October 2024. My wife has been driving a ‘14 Explorer for the past few years and it was time to get something bigger. Found this on marketplace down in Oklahoma and had to jump on it. 2011 Ford Expedition EL King Ranch.IMG_2763.jpeg Pretty clean condition with 164,000 miles on it. Had been looking for a clean Expedition with a second row bench (more seats for a growing family) and an older one that had the 5.4L. I was tired of the 3.5 in her Explorer. Two-owner car that spent its entire life in Oklahoma (we will see how long it takes to get all that red dirt out of it).

King Ranch interior in decent shape. Pretty clean for a 13 year old family hauler.

Started off with an oil change and sending off a sample of the old oil to be tested. Seems like I need to replace a couple dreaded blend/mode door actuators. And figure out if I can remount the backup sensors as they got messed up by the previous owner from a deer strike while pulling a trailer.

Overall I’m happy with the purchase and can’t wait to put some miles on her!

Congrats on the sweet new-ish ride, hopefully it was maintained well by the previous owner(s)...

You may also want to consider changing the trans & coolant fluids, and the plugs & coil packs too, as they all seem to wear out at or around 150k...and of course the air filter too :D

My 011 EL LTD has had a few issues here & there, but from what I have read here, it seems like a lot less than some of the other model years....

Any mods planned ?

Thanks, I’ll have to look into doing the trans and coolant fluids. Previous owner did timing components, cam phasers, plugs and coils around the 135k mile mark. So hopefully I’m good there for a while.

As for mods, it’s already got a slight lift, wheels and tires, window tint and an aftermarket radio that I’ll eventually be upgrading. I put in the smoked C- bar tail lights last week, I hope they last. You never know what your gonna get with aftermarket lighting.

I’m going to put some sort of mild toned exhaust on it, nothing loud. I just want to be able to hear that I’m driving a V8 when I’m in it. Also debating on some sort of brush/grill guard as a little extra insurance since we live out in the country, lots of animals running around.

Not sure on anything else, I’m sure I’ll get inspired by someone else on here to add something else down the road.

^^THIS^^

My brother, who lives in the boonies and recently bought 2x 24 Max's one day, and was up at 6am the following morning installing the grill guards, 'cause he had to total out his '19 & '20 due to meeting up with Rudolph & Bambi early one evening....

Sharp looking truck!! I love the King Ranch leather, normal wear adds a lot of character to it. Make sure to keep it conditioned with the proper conditioner!

If I get another Expedition for whatever reason, I'm 100% buying a King Ranch.
