On my 2011 XLT 2WD I face the issue that even after having the ABS control unit (electronic black box bolted to the ABS pump) checked and refurbisched by a professional company, the Code B1342 comes back immediately after reset with the diagonosis tool/reader.
When I sent the electronic black box unit to the company ECU-testing (UK) they told me there is nothing wrong with the unit, but I had them refurbish it anyway.
I put it back on and after starting the engine these lights come on in the dash: the ABS light (amber), the Brake light (red), the Roll Stability light (amber).
Any guess anyone what else it might be? B1342 is the ONLY code thats in the diagnosis (done with e Zeus+ snap on).
No more details.
Is the wording 'Faulty Control Module' that comes with the code, referring to the electronic part (black box) only, or does it refer to the whole unit (including the ABS pump)? Could it then be the hydraulic ABS pump?
Any hint is appreciated.
Thx
Andy

My son's F150 (2010) did that and it was the speed sensor. Forscan (and probably others) should be able to read those and tell you if that is the case.

@Dennis_H , thanks. Did your sons F150 also throw the same fault code B1342?
I was told that a defective wheel speed sensor gets you the SAME messages 'check brakes' and service advance trac' in the infocenter (dash) but it would be a DIFFERENT fault code in the diagnosis system when you check.

Also, today I ran checks on the power supply to the ABS module. I checked it at the plug that plugs into the ABS module. I used a 60W headlight bulb doing so. I also checked the ground connection at the plug. All fine.
Pin 1 and 32 are hot all the time (like they are supposed to) Pin 8 is hot in Start and Run (like it is supposed to). During all hecks my test bulb came on bright.
So I conclude no power issues.
Let me know if anyone has another idea what to do or check next.

I can't remember if there was a code since it was a couple years ago, just throwing it out there that the symptoms were the same and possibly check those since it was fairly easy with a scan tool.

Check the voltage at socket 16 on the DLC. Mine was 8 volts the other day - if I had just checked to see if it was hot, I would’ve missed it. Socket 16 is connected directly to a fuse in the underhood fuse box.

OK I did that, > 12V on all the sockets I checked.
UPDATE: after a roadtrip though Idaho and 30 miles of a dirt road with terrible washboard and badly rutted sections (so a lot of bumping, bouncing and rattling) all 3 warning lights in the dash (Brake, ABS and Traction control) went off the day after and they stayed OFF the next week until this day. They are still OFF today, after 1400 miles. With that also the messages CHECK BRAKE and SERVIOCE ADVANCE TRAC are gone from the infocenter in the cockpit.
I have sind checked if ABS is really working again by applying full brakes on a gravel road and YES, ABS working and so is traction control.
Anyone any explanation for this? The issue persisted for over a year and 5000 miles and now its all gone?
Anything else I can check? I am glad its gone, but I do not believe in miracles just yet.

Interesting. Those lights you mentioned are coming on for my wife’s drive (2012 EL XLT 2WD) to work in the morning and stay off for any subsequent trips. I know a bad road I may try… maybe some bad connection got jostled enough to make contact again on your vehicle. ???
