Perhaps the Ford dealership was incorrect. That's what they told me. They said the chains were stretched to the point the tensioners could no longer tension them enough to keep the timing consistent. Wouldn't be the first time a dealership made a mistake I guess.

Chains don't stretch they wear and never enough to affect timing, they should last forever unless you constantly ran low on oil. I don't think your timing problem was from chain wear but it probably jumped a tooth for some reason. Here comes the opposition........lol

This video illustrates the problem. Tension can't take up slack in chain. Stretch refers to chain lengthening due to wear, not stretch like a rubber band.

Exactly, that metal is super hard and never stretches. All I saw was a super hyper guy lifting a cab..........:emotions34:

Another round for everyone. So went to pick up the truck today. A/C not working. The heater blows hot. I'm like WTH. Take it back. Get a call that the compressor needs to be replaced.
This car had been on the dealer lot for months btw. Hence the price and I got it $400 cheaper than that. Now it's got me thinking could more be wrong. The good thing is the dealer is going to take care of fixing it. No need to use the extended warranty I bought. It has 140K on the clock, going to have a new AC. Since that happen I felt a little funny about my purchase. Everything else appears to be working fine, except a backup sensor is bad somewhere causing the dash alarm or check backup system or something like that. Hopefully once all this get sorted out I will have a nice truck.

Loved my Ecoboost. Towed great too. I previously had 12 and 00 Expeditions.[IMG][IMG]
