My backup camera on my 2017 Expedition XLT had a short in it and had to be replaced. I took it to the dealer and had a new one put in but now the guidelines are missing and when I try and hit either the zoom feature or the enhanced park aid. When looking in the options on the display then only thing i have is Camera Delay. Any help would be appeciated.

Reccomend you order a GOOD USB OBDII diagnostic interface, like the VINT interface I got from Amazon, shown in the photos here. It's been tested, and works flawlessly with the, LOL,ROF, FORSCAN, oh the name of the software cracks me up! FORDSCAN would be more in line with the
software's actual intended use. Ford probably wanted royalties if the, "D", was used in the name, so we have the name that makes me chuckle.

Back on task Roger! You will also need a Windows 10 laptop, Apple laptop, where you will install the corresponding version of FORSCAN, and set it up to work with the aformentioned USB OBDII Diagnostic interface, it's simple to do, if I can, you can.

FORSCAN Also works with Android, and Android devices, I DON'T RECOMMEND IT FOR PROGRAMMING THE VEHICLES COMPUTERS, OR USING YOUR SMARTPHONE TO DO ANYTHING MORE WITH FORSCAN BEYOND MONITORING YOUR VEHICLE'S PID'S, RECORDING THE VARIOUS PARAMETERS, READING AND CLEARING SYSTEM CODES.
WHY I FEEL THAT WAY ILL GET INTO LATER.

Ok, recap, must haves.
USB OBDII Diagnostic Interface.
Windows 10, or Apple laptop.
Corresponding install of the FORSCAN software.
VINT OBDII interface software and drivers installed so the interface can be set up in FORSCAN, then configured to connect to and work with the vehicle's onboard computers.
Subscribe to the FORSCAN forum here, spend time getting familiar with the app, the PC software, what owners have been able to do with it.

EXTREEMLY IMPORTANT. From the Ford Motor Company's owner portal. You will need to register and set up a user account. It is imperative you get your vehicles, "AS BUILT," Data file and vehicle information like the build sheet. This information is specefic to your vehicle and is retreived using your vehicles VIN. There is a bit of a waite for the data and files, Ford has to get everything together, sometimes it takes less than 5 minutes, or, if things are popping over at Ford, several hours to a day. I seriously doubt there is anybody here who would dismiss these records as not necessary.

Your vehicles, "As Built," files, data, information, goes into some detale explaning how the various computer systems onboard your vehicle were programmed, you get the actual code FORD downloaded to your vehicles computer systems at the factory. Its the OBDII talk, that talks to your vehicles onboard computer systems, makes all of them work.

FORSCAN will allow you to go inside the various vehicle onboard computer systems and tweak them to better suit you. Here you will be able to correct the issue you are having with the back up camera system. However, the dealer should be made to remidy the issue. They failed to address properly progrmming camera after it was installed, or am I missing something??? Even if you don't want to change things with your vehicles onboard computers. You at least owe it to yourself to learn what onboard computer modules your vehicle has. The primary on being the ECM, (Engine Control Module). How to work with the PID's, interpret them, understand system fault codes. So you are empowered at the dealership or repair shop to be on the same page knowing early on what the problem most likely is, what it takes to fix it, and the aprox., repair cost.

Now, this, the reasion I want the programming connection, actual programming, etc., to be done with a mainstream laptop, via a hardwired, USB diagnostic interface connection. When you go into, access, your vehicles onboard computer systems. You want to be sure the connection wont drop, is free of static, and proven reliable, stable computer platforms are used. This way everything functions with out the worry of Bluetooth dropping the connection, WiFi handing off a disconnect in the middle of a programming write to a vehicle computer module, or Android decides to hiccup, or, lock up at a similar, critical time. Or, the Wireless interference distorts the code you are writing to the onboard system. Most certantly a dedicated hardwired system can screw up, but that is far less likely when compaired to a wireless, Blue Tooth, or wi-fi connection.

BEING EVER VIGILANT THAT THE POSSIBILITY OF SOMETHING GOING WRONG AT A CRITICAL MOMENT IS A REAL CONCERN THAT NEEDS TO BE MITIGATED. THIS IS WHY, BEFORE HAVING A CHAT WITH YOUR VEHICLES MENTAL MINDSET. THE NEXT STEPS ARE A NO BRAINER MUST DO! YOU SHOULD MAKE 2 BACKUPS OF ALL THE SYSTEM PROGRAMMING IN YOUR VEHICLE, BEFORE YOU GO POKING AROUND IN THERE. SCREWUPS CAN IMMOBILIZE THE VEHICLE, RUIN A SYSTEM MODULE, AND COST YOU A BIG CHUNK OF CHANGE TO FIX!!!

I am still learning FORSCAN, not even close to being a expert with the software. I stick to what others have done with it, stuff that is proven to work. Doddling off on my own, messing with my vehicles mental zen, and somehow causing a system meltdown, is a very real possibility until I learn more about how it all works. As it stands now, thanks to the brave owners who went ahead of me. I managed to put the seat climate controls in the center touch display, get the engine run and idle hours on the left MFD. Get the turn signals to blink 5 times as opposed to 3, get Bambi mode working, Set up the non-existant heated steering wheel. The steering wheel was on the vehicle, Ford did not activate the switch, er, set things up so I did. I am curious as to anyone else comming across this with the Platinum 2016 EL. Makes me wonder what other frilly optional extras are on the vehicle, left dormat by Ford, cause the build sheet did not call for that option. and a few smart tricks with the smart key. Oh, yes, terminate that stupid, two honk, horn beep if you leave the vehicle running and shut the door.

Regarding the USB OBDII Diagnostic Interface. They cost more, they are not unreliable clones from China, stick with what FORSCAN recommends. They are safe, durable, reliable, and work seamlessly with the FORSCAN software. When I am out driving my expy, I prefer the Android app., Carbit, the paid version. It provides information I consider relevant when I am driving, like accurate tire pressure for all four tires. I dont have to deal with that idiot light that comes on and tells you a tire is soft, you gotta figure out which one, im getting too old for gimping around the vehicle checking each tire till I find the soft one. It also has what I say are more relevant PID's that enhance your awarness about your vehicle's systems & health. You can also set audible alarms for its PID's and it runs well in the background so when its set up correctly you really don't need to keep an eye on it.

I encourage you to really look into this. Don't shy away from it. There are awesome folks here that can, do, and will help you out as you get into the groove with FORSCAN. Wikipedia suprised me with all the information they have on OBDII, PID's, the programming code, and a really concise history on the Ford Expedition, there were a lot of, hmm, who knew, moments in all the reading there. Make sure you are subscribed to the FORSCAN forum. There are members who have got cheat sheets as to what needs to be changed to get the desired result from the vehicle, and have posted them there. Update: I did take it to the dealer yesterday to have them look at the issue and they do believe they will need to a reset (I did not catch what they will need to do) in order to fix the issue. They did not have time to do it yesterday as they did say it could take a couple of hours depending on how busy they are. I am going to take it back to them and leave it one day next week to have it fixed. I will look into getting one of the OBD modules so that I can understand what i can tweek on my vehicle.

Old but same problem with my wife's car. Quick question about the camera - are your mirrors broken too? What's wrong with old-school. Reset my butt - that won't do crap other than get you back out the door. Things too complicated don't break for no reason. The mirrors in my Mustang work just fine. When you get so complacent that you need a camera to back out your driveway, well, too far gone. Next statement is "it came on the car, it should work". Yup. Don't go there and you don't have to worry with it. More components is more that can break. I'll fix this, but shouldn't have to.
