Hi all, new member here.
Will really appreciate If someone can help with this.
The factory and ESP expired on 12/17/2024, on 12/20/2024 with no prior warnings or shifts issues, took SUV out of garage drove 1000ft and it refused to move, started shifting very hard and yellow wrench sign came on, I turn of the engine and restarted it again hard shifts I made it back to garage and next day towed it to Lincoln dealer. After one week they called and said the did the recommended updates it didn't help and it needs new transmission because of CDF drum failure.
SUV has 56650 miles only we always maintained it, it did had original transmission fluid.
Maybe someone can advise if they should have replaced the CDF drum instead of recommending a reman transmission for $8700 plus tax.
or is this something they are doing this to us because we don't have warranty? and have to pay out of pocket.
Is it possible that this one incident might have caused enough damage that they have to replace the transmission instead of replacing the part.
My Lincoln app shows they one drove the SUV for about 3 miles while it was on their lot.
when all this happened at my home I got powertrain malfunction/loss of power warning on my Lincoln app which disappear after a couple of days.
however when it was dropped to Lincoln I am sure after the update they should have drove it and got some kind of code or warning , normally if their is a defect my Lincoln app shows it right away.
should I ask another dealer if they can change CDF drum vs replacing with a re manufactured one.
sorry for the long post.
Thank you
