So I googled and found some info about this generation (2021) Expeditions. It seems there were two TSB.

TSB 22-2145 for the Neutral issue and TSB 23-2250 I guess for the hard gear changes

My 2021 has only 27k miles but it has had a lot of work done to make it off-road. Nothing has been done to the engine or programming.

Around maybe 1500 miles ago, I noticed the Expy starting to have a slight hard/stutter shift from 4th to 5th. On a day’s drive, it seem it would maybe happen at least once, but maybe not twice. I am now also experiencing hard shifts from Park to Drive where the whole car would clunk and “move” into gear.

It’s basically a weekend car where I would drive maybe a total of 400-500miles a month on average. At this point I’m really just starting the car on the weekends, and it’s parked weekdays.

With some of that info said, how difficult would it be for me to get this checked. My 3 year warranty is over , and I don’t have extended warranty

Is this TSB part of a different warranty? 3 dealers gave me a hard time when my rear AC went out. They said they would have to cut all my aftermarket wires, etc. I ended up replacing it myself.

Is your vehicle still covered under Ford’s five-year, 60,000 mile power train warranty?

If so - take it to a Ford dealer for diagnosis and repair of the transmission.

I got it in 2022 for the 2021 model, and it only has 27k at the moment. I’m glad this is under the power train then.

I’m just afraid they will give me a hard time and maybe say my modified suspension, bigger wheels, and extra weight is causing it.

I have a 2021 Platinum Max we bought Earlier this year. Only had 19K on it and its a peach of a vehicle. Its only the Wife and I but we love big vehicles. I drive a 2017 f150 lariat supercrew and love it. Anyway was watching some youtube vids about the tranny because as we all know its terrible. FordMechanicMakeYouLoco said to do a fluid flush at 30K, fluid flush and filter change at 60K, and then another fluid flush at 100K then every 60K after that and the tranny will last a long time. So i took the expe to the dealer and had them do the flush. Now i did go and buy some AMSOIL ULV tranny fluid and it made a world of difference. No harsh shifting, no clunks when coming to a stop, smooth shifting through just about all the gears. I think ive only seen it skip 5th sometimes depending on how you hit the gas. Gave a little bump in MPG and it does run cooler. Im not an amsoil seller or anything like that and this was my first experience with them. Saying all that do the above listed recommendations and honestly spend the money to get some of that amsoil ulv and it will make all the difference. if you lived near me id tell ya to come by and take it for drive so you can see the difference. Really is great stuff. Its the only thing ill be putting in that transmission for as long as we have it.

Thank you for this. I will surely keep this in mind. I paid MSRP for this during COVID, so I would be upside down if selling. The hope is to keep for 10 years.

I bought 14 quarts and gave it to them to do the flush. I am not a Transmission guy, i know how they work and what needs to be done to maintain them but thats for someone else to do. I can do motors and just about everything else but no trannys.
