Tomorrow going into the dealer 4th time at a 4th new dealer. Car is over 36k but i paid $5200 for premium care.

There’s is a knock coming from the engine area when going over bumps or turning at slow speeds. Most likely caused by the random clunks I get from the transmission.

Can you take a video to show the service writer and tech? As a former tech I can tell you it can be hard to duplicate concerns, especially if they are not conveyed correctly.

A normal iPhone cannot pick up the knocking sounds unless it’s really quiet which makes it difficult to record. Car was dropped a 4th time at 4th new dealer today for the transmission clunking issue and the newly formed knocking noise from the engine area when going over bumps. I asked this dealer if they will have a tech go with me on a test drive and I was told they have great technicians that will find out wat the problem is.

Will update once they let me know if they find anything.

I also was reffered to a lawyer and he’s requesting I send him all records I have from ford. If ford couldve fixed my god dam car I wouldn’t even have come to all these boards or look for lawayers. I never knew new lemon cars existed until I bought this one!

Yesterday the dealer told me they did hear the knock and said they’re working on fixing it. I get a call today to let me know that everything is fine and there is no knock so they told me car is ready for pick up. Ford could not replicate the clunks underneath my feet or the knock coming from the front end. But they did find a disconnected evap vent hose. The car has only been taken to Arlington Heights IL Ford dealer since the engine was replaced at 16,000 miles. Did they do it on purpose or not idk. This could be the reason why I’m smelling fumes in the cabin frequently. Only time will tell.

As soon as I exited the dealer parking I heard the knock from the front of the engine. It was 7 pm so I didn’t want to go back. Then I heard it about 10 more times on my way home.

What’s my options here? Maybe take it to an independent mechanic to diagnose it? This is the 4th dealer I take my car to. I’m wasting a lot of time trying to repair this car. This is unbelievable.

You need to insist on a ride with a tech. Use this as the reason why.

You may check the sway bar? I occasionally hear minor clunk sound when I circle a roundabout in my community club at low speed. I started noticing it after I replaced the factory front sway bar with Hellwig bar.

How to check the sway bar I’m not technician. It’s the reason why I bought this best top version of ford to not have such issues and when I do I expect the dealer to fix it as it’s under warranty. I took my car the 4th new dealer and I was reffered to this one as the best dealer around. Even they couldn’t replicate the intermittent trans clunks and the very apparent knocks heard towards engine area. Well over the phone they told me they heard the knocks towards the engine area when going over bumps or turning but then when they gave me the car back they stated everything is fine and they couldn’t replicate it. I’m filing a complaint with the states attorneys office and BBB next. They’re doing no different than the insurance companies where the delay and deny.

I have a few qyestions….

1) How does a dealer “hardly” give you a loaner? Either they did or did not.

2). The dealers say they cannot replicate the problem. Did you ride with them when they test drove it, and if so you hear the problem while they were driving it? They cant trouble shoot something if it does not do it for them.

3) Did you smell the fumes when they test drove it, and if so did they smell it? Have you changed the filter?

1) I had to fight them for the loaner when they replaced the long block on the engine. At first they said they don’t give out loaners. Then I had to argue with them that they can’t leave me without a car for a month when the car has only 16,000 miles on it. Also instead of replacing the whole engine they did half as job by replacing only the long block.

2) only one time and only one dealer agreed to come with me in the car to test my issues. The guy did a very fast test 2 blocks and back to the dealer. He did hear the very apparent knocks coming from the engine or front end when going over bumps or turning. I have it on paper that the tech heard it and wrote it on ford papers but then gave me the car back without fixing the issue. As far as the trans clunks and fumes you need more time driving the vehicle not just two blocks. The fumes issue has been fixed mostly because the last dealer I was at found a disconnected vent hose as I previously mentioned above. The trans clunks continue.

3) the car has about 37,000 miles on it now. The filters in the cabin and engine have been changed twice. Both times they were bought from ford dealerships and I have receipts.
