Hey everyone, I negotiated a deal with my local Ford for a 2024 Expedition Max Limited Stealth 4x4 Oxford White with the following options:
- Stealth Edition Package
- 2nd Row Bench (so ideal for our large family instead of captains chairs)
- Heavy Duty Trail/Tow Pkg
- 15.5 LCD Screen w/ touch Cap

Sticker is $83,565
Negotiated down to $69,667 before tax etc shown in photo. Is this a great, good, or bad deal. Put a refundable $1k deposit down to think it over the weekend.

I think this is pretty good, almost 14k off MSRP. Laura ford, bigger wholesale dealer near me, is advertising around ~11.3k off MSRP, so you are at $13,898. From what ive seen, $5k-$7k off on top of the ford $5k rebate is somewhat common, so you are well above that, i don't think you will find much better, unless ford has some additional front end or back end rebates going into December, but id have no issues going for it if it were me.

I know doc fees are a small part of the deal, but $499 seems high. At $125/hour, that's 4 hours to complete the paperwork.
That's probably ~1.5 hrs for the paperwork, and the other 3.5 hrs for the sales manager to decide whether or not to try to dog you into buying a bunch of extras, like GAP coverage, ESP, or some over-priced Ford accessories & installation packages :)

Based on that pic shown, what exactly did you negotiate ? NOt that it was a bad deal per se, but not anything to write home about IMHO.....

If they apparently already had it discounted by $8898, and then you qualified for the $5k rebate (which basically just cancelled out the taxes), I'm not sure why you think this was such a great deal...

With the '25's coming soon, and dealers desperate to get rid of '24's to make room for them, I would have played hardball & got at least ANOTHER $7-10k off, but that's just me with my 40+ years of "take it or leave it" & "I'll just go across town" car buying experience :)

I negotiated the $8898. Originally the dealer discount was $2k less at $6898.

No it is not the stealth performance package. Which I’m fine with because I plan to replace shocks, level, and swap out rims and tires and I hear leveling options are minimal with the shocks that package comes with.

I think $14K is pretty good. And no dealer add ons? Most dealers around here have $1500-2500 in dealer adds. A $499 doc fee is pretty "cheap" too. Many dealers are now charging $899 or $999 anymore. @BigOleFordFan are you saying you want $7-10 more, on top of $14? Guess you'll be driving that big old Ford for a long time.

I literally grew up in a car dealership and cut my teeth professionally at high volume Ford stores in CA and AZ. Don't think your $1000 deposit is anything more than a guaranteed way you don't disappear AND I promise you, anyone who is ready to buy that Expedition will not be prevented from doing so because of your refundable credit card deposit. I never have a problem with supply/demand market prices. Don't have a problem with 14K markups or 14K discounts. I'd be happy for you if you made the deal. It's a great ride... I'd also be happy for the trigger-happy buyer who just might be taking a look at it right now. As for dealer fees, nobody likes them and everyone pays them.

This dealership sold me my custom order F250 Tremor Powerstroke at $5k below invoice in 2022 when trucks were hard to get. They don’t operate how you may have operated your dealership. The expedition is literally removed from the lot, website and marked sold. They take good care of us and don’t do any shady stuff even if a buyer came over saying they’d take my rig at asking price.
