This dealership sold me my custom order F250 Tremor Powerstroke at $5k below invoice in 2022 when trucks were hard to get. They don’t operate how you may have operated your dealership. The expedition is literally removed from the lot, website and marked sold. They take good care of us and don’t do any shady stuff even if a buyer came over saying they’d take my rig at asking price.
I operated with clarity, honesty and professionalism. Havent been on the retail side since 2010 and customers still call me for advice... So go sleep on it another night and shop their deal on a forum! What's your magic number? Would you sell them out for $1,000? $1500?

I think $14K is pretty good. And no dealer add ons? Most dealers around here have $1500-2500 in dealer adds. A $499 doc fee is pretty "cheap" too. Many dealers are now charging $899 or $999 anymore. @BigOleFordFan are you saying you want $7-10 more, on top of $14? Guess you'll be driving that big old Ford for a long time.

The document fee is nothing more that a dubious add-on which is pure profit for the dealer.

The documents are done in a computer, and processed by a low-paid clerk.

My state, Ohio, has a state law in place that limits the fee to $250 - but does not require it.

The fee simply reinforces my belief that most dealers are unscrupulous and will scalp any buyer they can.

Reinforces the fact consumers can be emotional and irrational. Car dealers run on 3% net margins, doc fees included. Ask yourself what business are you in and what's your margin? Ask a Rolex dealer and they can't tell you or they'll lose their franchise. I'm all for market based pricing but please stop the drama.

Car dealers are the only business I can think of that charge a document fee to sell you a product for which they are making a profit.

And don’t forget the car dealer shop-supplies fee, which is added to the $100+ per hour fee for labor in the service department. Also the only business that I can think of that charges a fee for supplies used to clean their business and employees, while charging you to service your car.

Imagine going to the grocery store and having a fee added to each purchase, to cover the cost of cleaning the floors and the employees washing their hands?

When I was purchasing my used expedition, the Audi dealer was trying to charge $299 on top of the price if the expy for the nitrogen they had in the tires. I only noticed it because I was looking through the itemized pricing sheet to sign it. I refused to pay and they took it off. Dumb

That’s in the ballpark of the discount I got just before Covid hit. I hadn’t heard places were back in that action. Would seem to be pretty good to me.

I promise you, anyone who is ready to buy that Expedition will not be prevented from doing so because of your refundable credit card deposit.
That's a lot of promising, given you don't know the dealership, the salesman, the manager, or the buyer. They may very well sell the thing from under him, but why the certainty?

I think your doing well with this deal. I'd pull the trigger. There is value in getting a deal done efficiently vs traveling to many stores and seeing the underbelly of the industry to save a few bucks...

The guy is far from accurate on this one. I dealt with the sales manager who I dealt with before when custom ordering my Tremor. They aren’t selling that car from underneath me. I promise him that lol. I just want to know if my deal is a solid one lol
