Hi everyone new to the forum and had a question. I’ve searched the forum and can’t seem to find a definitive answer. Is there a way to code in the temperature numbers on the cluster for a 2024 model with forscan? Thanks in advance for any help.

I presume you're after the engine and trans temp gauge numbers.

According to my notes, the same values worked on Mom's 2022 with Sync 4 that worked on my 2020 with Sync 3 (both are Platinum Max models). Might be the same on yours. On ours, the gauge temps and power-on chime were the only two things we had to set via the old as-built hex-values method when I did them about a year ago. Double-check that this isn't already in the easy-mode normal IPC module (not the as-built one) drop-down configs in the latest version.
  • IPC 720-07-01 changed to xxxx xE5x xxxx to enable engine/trans temp numbers
Only replace the E5 in those two middle numbers. And as usual, backup your config first.

I know this is an old question. But the newer versions of FORScan now have an as-built section. I find if a mod is listed there, it may work. Remember, when using FORSCan always backup before making any mods or changes.

Regarding Forscan, I have a scanner that I purchased this year for another one of my cars. It had usb capabilities to get updates on software. It said that it could be used on Ford too.
Is there any reason I need to buy a Forscan?

Forscan isn't a piece of hardware. It's software that runs on a Windows x86/x64 computer. To communicate with your vehicle, Forscan needs a link device such as the ones listed on the forscan.org website.

The scanner you have is probably just an OBD II scanner. Most OBD II scanners can scan for codes in Fords, but they can't alter configuration settings in your vehicle's modules like Forscan can.

FORScan is a program that allows the user to not only run diagnostics, but also make changes to features. It's worth checking out. But not knowing how to use it can lead to malfunctions and even bricking your head unit. So, I suggest checking it out and reading up on it, as it is a powerful tool that offers a lot of features.

Ok, I have Forscan on my laptop now. Any suggestions on which connection device I should get? Prices are all over the place from $15 to expensive….and many look exactly alike except for the price!

I think I'd go with one of the recommended adapters, the two OBDLink devices, to avoid potential problems.

I second @bb37. I have been using FORScan for years, both personally and commercially.

The only 2 adapters that work 100% are. I have both. And the switchless feature, on both, is worth 2 times more:
OBDLink EX - More expensive
Works perfectly
Made for FORScan and recommended by the FORScan team
100% coverage of Ford modules and all features offered by FORScan
Electronic MS-CAN/HS-CAN switch allows FORScan to access all CAN buses simultaneously and enables advanced functions not possible with “toggle switch” adapters
Maximum throughput: up to 20 times faster than “toggle switch” adapters
Dealership-level diagnostics — OBDLink EX supports all Ford protocols, modules, and advanced features of FORScan
Rock-solid connection avoids data corruption and dropped packets
BatterySaver™ Technology low power mode

and

Vgate vLinker FS OBD2 USB Adapter for FORScan HS/MS-CAN Auto Switch - cheaper
Also works perfectly and as good as the OBDLink EX

Hello friends,
Considering going down the Forscan rabbit hole for the same exact thing: I want digital oil, tranny and coolant temps. Do we know if it is possible in a ‘24 limited like the original post asks?
TIA, Bob
