Picked up my 2025 Expedition brand new in July. It already had 90 miles on it because the dealer “thoroughly tested” it due to problems I had with my previous 2022 Expedition Max Platinum.

Ironically, my 2025 showed the same type of issue as my previous 2022 on my drive home: significant vibration and shaking, like severely out-of-balance tires. I recorded videos of the steering wheel bouncing around and cups dancing in the holders. Not subtle at all.

There is a technical service bulletin for this issue:
https://oemdtc.com/tsb/?number=11025485 (also see attached)

Here’s the timeline:
1st visit: Dealer rebalanced the tires — no improvement.
2nd visit: Road force test showed the tires wouldn’t pass. The dealer recommended four new tires.
3rd visit: New (different-brand) tires installed and still vibrated. Dealer admitted there’s a Ford bulletin on this issue that says to replace all tires, not wheels.
4th visit: Dealer test-drove it themselves and confirmed that the new tires also failed the road force test. Per Ford’s bulletin, I needed another set — four new OEM tires from an “updated batch.”
5th visit: Waited about a month. New OEM tires installed. Notes said it was “okay over 60 mph,” but nothing about 70+. Sure enough, vibration is still there.

Throughout all of this, the dealer has been polite, but they keep saying Ford requires them to follow a rigid, step-by-step process. The result? I’m the test dummy while they cycle through tires one batch at a time. We haven’t even touched the wheels yet, and at this point, I have zero confidence that it will magically resolve itself.

After passing 5,000 miles with no real fix in sight, I finally called Ford Corporate and opened a Lemon Law buyback case. They were friendly and straightforward, so at least everything is on record now. We’ll see where it goes.

Aside from the vibration issue, the truck has been great. My only side complaint: I still can’t save a seat position — only “restore last position.” So every time it comes back from service, my seat is totally messed up from multiple techs driving it.

Was the vibration present on your test drive before you bought the vehicle?

@dlcorbett I'm sure replacing the wheels is part 20 of their 50 step process :)

@99WhiteC5Coupe My 2022 Expedition had an ongoing differential issue that could not be resolved after approximately 18 months of back and forth. Ford Corporate ultimately repurchased that vehicle, and I upgraded to the 2025 Expedition Max Platinum Ultimate, which was delivered to a dealership about two hours from my home and four months late, ironically, due to the new 24" wheels.

When I picked up the new vehicle, it had a sticker on the windshield indicating it had undergone thorough testing due to the prior buyback situation. I test drove it on the side roads near the dealership, but did not reach highway speeds. It wasn’t until I was on the highway, driving at full speed on my way home, that I noticed the vibrations. By that time, the dealership was closed, so I reported it via email. 5,000 miles later, still dealing with it :-/

If changing tires smoothed it at above 60mph but not 70mph take it to an independent tire shop and have balanced properly.

What dealer?

Here's a solution for you. I checked with a tire company that I used when I was playing with vettes. Called them and of course the business been sold. Anyway I described your issue to the guy who answered the phone and he's thinking along the same lines I am. Poor equipment or improper operation buy the operator. Here's their info. They have expanded to about 6 stores. Bear in mind this is not an endorsement but being from that area I know that if they sucked they'd be gone. Let me know if you use them please.

@Fastcar I've been taking the Expedition to 24 Ford in Easton. They have a Road Force Balancer, so I would assume they can properly balance the tires.

Thanks for recommending Mansfield Tire - I know them well :)

This is a known issue with these wheels/tires

To be clear, I am not recommending Mansfield Tire as they have changed ownership since I last dealt with them and I have no experience with their current service. If the LeBlanc family still owned it I would urge you to take it there. Having said that, they are a tire shop and as such their expertise is tires and balancing them. Assuming that a dealer can repair or fix anything is a crap shoot at best unless you truly know them. 24Ford wasn't there when I lived in that area. You seem to have been there for 3-5 times to cure a vibration. Time to go elsewhere.

I like the lemon law path. I did a lemon law on a 2023 Trailblazer and got all my money back and a free rental for 5 months. Don’t be there test dummy. The vehicle costs too much for you to suffer with that issue. In the mean time claim safety issues and request a free rental until yours is fixed or you get reimbursed.

when I was test driving late model used Expeditions, one had some kinda fancy 24" wheels on it, the ride was absolutely HORRIBLE on a even slightly bumpy freeway, it skated all over the road. The tires were nearly new. When I finally found a Expedition with the packages we wanted (notably, HD Tow), it was a 'Stealth' with 22" wheels, I immediately replaced them with 18" wheels pulled from a new F150, and 20000 miles later, am still happy although I do want to change the tires.

I replaced the Good Year tires with Michelin Defenders and all the vibration is gone. I just paid for it out of my own pocket, but it was worth every penny. I think it rides better now than my F150 with 22” tires on it (also has Michelin Defenders on it as well).

Glad your problem is solved, but a $100,000+ vehicle should not require the owner to QC their own tires. The troubleshooting process is also unacceptable, especially if Ford is aware of the problem.

Unfortunately that’s the world we live in. Dealer offered to balance the Good Year’s and to replace any tires out of spec on the tire warranty, but I wanted Michelins anyway, they just weren’t available yet when we bought the Expedition. I’d rather pay the $1,300 it cost me to put Michelins on and enjoy driving my new vehicle, then be pissed every time I drive it, but that’s just me. I usually replace the tires before my new vehicles ever leave the lot tho….

I do understand your frustration tho. I had a ‘24 GMC pickup that the radio would drop volume on its own. Dealer said it was a Bose problem and not a GM problem. I traded it a week later for a ‘25 F150.

I took delivery on my 2025 Platinum Ultimate Max in late May. I guess I am lucky as my 24" wheel/Goodyear tire combo has displayed no vibration. Even at 90 mph, briefly, passing on state routes in rural south central Florida. CJ Dave.
