4th Gen - Sync 4 doesn't play Apple Car Play Volume if you switch to Reverse to quickly

Has anyone else experienced this? When I start my car and quickly shift from Park to Reverse, Apple CarPlay either fails to connect or connects without volume. I think the backup camera activation interrupts the connection.

Workarounds: Wait 20-30 seconds for CarPlay to sync before reversing, or turn off the car, open/close the driver's door, and restart.

It's annoying—any settings to fix it?

I've moved your thread to the 4th Gen forums. Maybe someone else has seen this and will chime in.

Are you connecting via Bluetooth? Have you tried connecting using a cable to see if that makes any difference?

When I start my Expedition, I usually wait for Android Auto to connect before I move. That gives the pumps in the engine and transmission time to get fluid moving. As a result, I've not experienced your symptom.

Beyond those fixes, there may be nothing that can be done. My cynical assumption is that Ford and Apple would point fingers at each other saying it's the other guys problem.

Have experienced that as well, I think. Usually if I switch to a different audio source, Sirius xm, then I can switch back to CarPlay and it works, occasionally takes two cycles through to get it done.

My 22 does the same thing if go into reverse too quick after starting. I believe it’s so the reversing tones can be heard when backing

2022 Expy max Platinum. Same problem. Not always due to going to reverse though. Seems to happen more frequently when not at home or in hometown. Weird and annoying. Have to shut off phone and turn on again. almost always works then. My guess? Ford Sync and Apple don't always like each other.

Seems like it happens less with IOS 26, but maybe I’m just imagining that.
