Just want to say I appreciate this site and everybody who posts helpful info. Used this site a bunch to help build my truck. I built it out for my camping trip out west and Canada and New england this past year (I live in NC). At first, I wanted a landcruiser/LX for this trip (actually bought an LX for the trip but it was too small so i sold it and bought this expedition... I'm 6'5 and I sleep in truck) but I'm glad I went with the expedition. Bought it from an old dude that never drove it only had 5k miles on it. Spent 2 months out west...Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, wash, org, ca, nev, az, ut, co...camped/hiked a ton of parks...even rafted the grand canyon for a week and took this thing the whole way. Slept/camped in it pretty much every night. Then came back east and did canada/new england for 6 weeks this past fall. 2 epic trips back to back. Hooked it up with an inverter and power pack to keep my beers and food cold in mini fridge...didn't want to mess with coolers/ice. Didn't really stay in 1 place for more than a couple days so it was sufficient for that. The reason I went with expedition was the size and rear area folding flat for sleeping...plus I'm a ford guy at heart have owned a bunch of broncos. Had my camping gear inside and on a front runner rack (awning, roam box, water tank, shovel, traction boards, light bar and fuel tank...yes I did need it ran out of gas in death valley and it saved my ass). Got bigger off road tires after I bought it, wrapped the lower half dark grey (thank god because i scratched the shit out of it going on trails) and blacked out the chrome, tinted all windows and windsheild. Blew out 3 of the 4 struts on the trip so I recently added the bilstein f-150 fronts and bilstein rears as well as pucks that added 1.5" of lift and leveled it out (pictures are pre-lift/shocks). I also got a tune up that added 100hp and it ******* flys now. Shout out 5star tuning in florence, sc...they did the shocks/lift and tune up. Anyways, wanted to share pics and say the expedition did really well for what I needed. Buried it on the beach in n cali but that was my own fault for being lazy and not airing down 1st but got lucky and got winched out from some Russian mafia looking dudes in a LC...but overall very capable off road vehicle...I got the fx4 with the locking rear and 4L. I'll try and add some pics of post lift later

Right on! Ahh the freedom! I just returned on a solo camping trip to the southern Utah canyonlands. I built out the expy for sleeping (very comfortable) and had Sterilite plastic shelving units bungeed to the side. I am 6 even and it was cramped but very doable. Going solo is great and I never lose an argument!
