Hey guys, I've viewed the forum a few times but this is my first post. Im a heavy equipment mechanic for the DOT and I've worked at a few different dealers all about 20 years ago when these trucks were newish.

I have a 1999 Eddie Bauer 5.4 4x4. Friday morning I left my satellite radio plugged it and I had to jump it off. After doing so I left for work and noticed when I got there it was in 4H as the truck stopped when I tried to turn around to back into my parking spot. I had to get into work so I waited until after work to mess with it.

After work I started it up and switched from A4wd to 4H. The 4x4 light on the dash did not illuminate but I thought I might have heard the motor. I have a catless exhaust and it has a little rumble so I wasnt sure. Switched the truck off, put it in neutral amd switched to 4L. Definitely heard the motor. Still no 4x4 or low range light. Switch back to A4wd and crank it up. Place the truck in drive and it tries to move forward thru my brakes. It was stuck in 4L.

I babied it home and tried to tap on the motor while my wife turned the switch. Nothing was happening. I was tired from wrenching all day at work. It rained all weekend and I'm a driveway mechanic at home so I let it sit. Had the wife take me to and from work today and snatched it off this afternoon. Was able to get the transfer case in 2H, but I noticed there's several extra wires in the connector for the motor, on the motor side of the connector. Looked like at least 2 sensors, and one wire that went in at the top of the tail shift. The chineseium part I found on Amazon only had the plug for the motor and no extra wires or sensors.

Does anyone have a good part number for these without paying Ford premium, if they even carry the part anymore?

I believe I have answered my own question. For anyone else needing to do this, the new motor comes with empty spots in the plug and you have to swap the wires over for the sensors.
