70k Maintenance

I received a email today from my local Ford dealership mentioning that I might be due for a 70,000 thousand mile maintenance package. I guess I never knew there was such a thing is there anything that needs to be done at 70,000 miles? It is a 2019 limited non-heavy duty tow package. Thank you in advance.

I believe thats just a 10K interval, nothing special in my 2019's owner manual.

I plan on 5000 mile oil changes regardless of what the computer says, turbo direct injection engines require clean quality oil or they foul.

'oil change' actually means...

Change engine oil and filter.

Rotate tires, inspect tire wear and measure tread depth.

Perform a multi-point inspection - recommended.

Inspect the automatic transmission fluid level - vehicles with dipstick. Consult your dealer for requirements.

Inspect the brake pads, rotors, hoses and parking brake.

Inspect the engine cooling system strength and hoses.

Inspect the exhaust system and heat shields.

Inspect front axle and U-joints.

Inspect the half-shaft boots.

Inspect the steering linkage, ball joints, suspension, tire-rod ends, driveshaft and U-joints.

Inspect the wheels and related components for abnormal noise, wear, looseness or drag.

then, every 20K miles, cabin air filter
every 30k miles, engine air filter
every 100k miles, replace spark plugs, inspect belts
every 150k, change ATF, chain alxe fluids, change transfer case, replace belts
every 200k, change coolant

I decided to change my spark plugs at 75K based on what I've heard, and will probably do them every 50k going forward. but to be fair, they looked pretty darn good at 75k. I will likely do the ATF and transfer case and differential fluids at 100k miles.

Note since posting that I put 10K miles on my Expy towing a trailer all over mexico, Jan 4 to May 4th.

Dealerships are notorious for recommending various maintenance services (that conflicts with the manufacturer's recommendations) as it enriches them.

They always want customers coming in. I can't say I blame them. Hard to sell things to someone you don't speak with. I took my daughter's Altima to Nissan in for a CVT fluid change. They called twice afterwards offering to buy the car. It has just over 170,000 miles on it.

The Ford dealer around me dont "Inspect the brake pads, rotors, hoses and parking brake." as part of their oil change "package". You have to request it with an additional charge. Kinda messed up if you ask me! I know this because they never check anything off in the brake inspection section and I asked the Service advisor why nothings checkednoff for the brake section of the inspection report and he said its not part of the courtesy checkup and its an additional charge if requested.

The Cartels aren't in Mexico anymore. They have all crossed the border after 2020 and in usa now

Around me, once you take your vehicle in for any service, all the dealerships (ford or otherwise), and 3rd party places too, will routinely send out flyers with so-called "service specials", which on the surface, may appear to be a somewhat decent deal, but are always available for a very limited time or have other restrictions that may or may not make them attractive to certain folks....

The catch is that 90% of the time, they will do the service indicated on the flyer for the advertised price, but then come out with the typical "well, you also need this, that or the other thing" nonsense BS, and we will gladly do that while we have it on the rack, for an additional *** $$....

I still get flyers from places I took my vehicles 5-10 years ago, most of which I no longer own...so into file 13 they go

zero. met all sorts of Canadian and European snowbirds and ex-pats, too. American TV 'News' emphasizes the scary so you stay home and watch more TV.
