Is it worth it to mess around with the clutch on the compressor or should I just replace the whole unit? I've ran all the diag, traced it back to a bad coil, but for the price is it even worth it to swap the clutch?
I've got all the AC tools and can grab a keg of R134 from work, so if I have to take the compresso LP Y Y UYr off to change the clutch it's not like it's any more work, (heck, it's less) should I just spend the $200 for a reman compressor since I'm already doing the work?
I don't PLAN on replacing the Expedition with anything else for a while, so I may as well keep milking it down the road. Still cheaper than a car payment!

If it was working fine blowing cold I would just change the clutch if you can get it cheap enough. plenty of room to do it in there so you don't have to break the system open.

If your AC was weak and just kinda meh, I would replace the whole thing. I would get a Motorcraft if you can since you are keeping it for the foreseeable future, I have had terrible luck with the aftermarket crap. If you want to save some $ check out car-part.com and look for a compressor on there, or just use the clutch. I picked up a basically new compressor for $40, installed and the AC is fantastic now!
