I did a little unofficial testing, and the new aftermarket fobs work from about 20’ away and the original ones work from about 30-35’ away.
I’m not sure if you have these stores where you are but I bought one for my wife’s car at Batteries plus. It was about 125 out the door. It takes a day or two to get it back but it’s the same fob and works great. Much cheaper than the 400 ish charged by the dealer
The ones on ebay work fine and are less than $7. I also found one in a junk yard car(free). I was able to self program both. If your vehicle has an after market remote start, The 2nd key may be zip tied to the steering column. Installers do this to bypass the PATS system. I bought a PATSII key on Ebay($8), had it cut at the hardware store and programmed it myself. However, I had 2 key already
