Hi Forum,

I have a 2017 with about 225,000kms. About 8 months ago, I blew a tranny cooling line, lost most of the fluid, and it resulted in a clutch and/or maybe the torque converter getting fried. So the truck started flaring badly and chirping between 3-4 upshifts, and downshifting roughly from 4-3. It also slipped quite badly on heavy throttle in 5th and 6th, but that is slowly correcting itself somehow. Maybe once a month, the tranny gets dazed and confused during a downshift, and drops itself out of gear, hunts around a bit, then picks a new gear. I have put about 20,000 kms on it in this state in the last 8 months, just driving gently and not letting it shift hard from 3-4 under load. This includes a 5000km roadtrip, through the BC mountains, towing a 3000lb camper. 2 months ago it also started the cam phaser rattle on startup, but I seem to have put a bandaid on that by doing a flood start on the first start of each day. Other than that, the truck is in exceptional shape.

These are both extremely common issues with the truck. Im sure many have dealt with the problem, and Im sure many have put off the inevitiable for as long as they can. So I guess my question is, for those that put off these expensive repairs for as long as possible, how long did you get, and what was the final result?

I was hoping to get about 50,000 more km's on the truck before moving into 4th gen. At that point, it'll be at 275,000kms and not likely worth sinking $10,000 into.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts...
