I just run the test feature which constantly refreshes the data and shows which cylinder has how many misfires.
I also found that the general Ford data pack allows you to monitor abs in real-time.

get a bluetooth adapter for your laptop and install forscan (free) it reads srs, abs, suspension, pats, rap, pcm and other modules. it even has koeo and koer tests, it can also bleed the abs to free trapped air from the abs module.

Forscan is an excellent program and I highly recommend it everywhere for Ford vehicles (in short of a high dollar scan tool)

Sometimes the misfire occurring due to a faulty coil will not trigger the check engine light, nor will it be recorded in the "High Byte" misfire counters..

These are the misfires that occur usually when the EGR opens and since the suspect Coil Plug needs to work harder with the recirculated exhaust, will only show misfires intermittently.

Open Torque and wait for the OBD adapter and torque to sync together

As you see, sometimes my misfire counters will not load up properly in torque, and when they do, the numbers are in Tens of Thousands and not accurate.

Scroll to an empty space somewhere within Torque. Do a long press and choose "ADD DISPLAY"

Scroll all the way to the bottom and select "PUSH BUTTON"

Next, scroll down until you see "SEND OBD COMMAND"

After selecting the menu item, this will affix a Push Button Widget onto your torque screen. You can place it anywhere you like.

After snapping the button down, do a LONG PRESS to open it's context menu.
You will see a menu pop up that looks like this. Press the circled choice "DISPLAY CONFIGURATION"

After selecting "DISPLAY CONFIGURATION", a new menu will pop up and select "SET COMMAND TO SEND"

qPaLoB2.jpg

The next screen, its asking us to enter in raw form an OBD message.
Type:
0653
xl0gUkU.jpg

Then hit "TEST COMMAND"

8dl4rJT.jpg

Then we will see the ECU's response in RAW format:

CJCU0Zu.jpg

If we look carefully, the items circle in YELLOW are corresponding cylinder numbers

The numbers in PURPLE is the count in HEX format.

HhfY5sP.jpg

Ignore the first 4653 in each cylinder Row, and ignore the last four in the purple (5700)

If you look at my Cylinder 1 row, you'll see it says 0B81 5700

Lets ignore the last four (5700), that'll give us 0b81 which equals *using a hex to decimal calculator* = 2941

**Cylinder 2 through 8 (Since we have a V8), shows 00005700 - which means no misfires in 2 through 8.
We ignore 9 and 10 since that will not apply to us - it will apply to the V10s

You can re access it if you hit okay to exit the screen by long clicking the SEND COMMAND push button and by selecting "DISPLAY CONFIGURATION".

I had to do it this way to find this damn intermittent misfire I had which was driving me crazy for months. My results in the pictures show I had misfires in my #1 cylinder which did not trigger the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.

When I saw #1 had some misfire counts today when I made this post, I checked it under the hood and found my #1 spark plug backed out and the coil plug was holding it in.

Misfires 2003 4.6 expedition

I've tried your method and ended up with these results. It's safe to say cylinder one is misfiring correct?

I,'ve tried this procedure numerous times and yet no luck on my 2001 expedition 5.4. I am using a Bluetooth kitbest reader and also a BAFX codereader, yet I get no misfire counts from the 01 expd. from either reader using torque pro . ... I tried it on the 2003 taurus I own and it works on that car. Does the 2001 expedition not have that capability? I have a terrible misfire after a cop /spark plug change. It almost feels like trans shudder.
