Has anyone ever taken the needles off the gauge cluster on their expedition? I want to buy an aftermarket white gauge cluster, not the reverse indiglo but just white gauges, and I'll switch the oem back lights to led at the same time, but before I buy the cluster I want to now if taking the needles off is very hard, I tried doing it once a very long time ago on a Honda and I broke every needle lol. They didn't want to come out but if I didn't pull straight out they would snap.

I won't bother if its too hard to get the needles off, I wan't it to perform like stock with the needles functioning normally or its not worth it for me. Thanks guys!

The color of the tint on the white gauges is blue, I will throw on a black gauge bezel at the same time to break up Alli the white and to give each meter it's own individual spot, like the explorer sports, at least that's the way I see it in my mind lol.

The best way to remove those needles is to use two teaspoons. You put one on each side of the needle and use them as levers to pry the needle straight out.

They're not that hard to take out, do as stated above, just make sure to mark where the needle rests after you pull the pin stops out and transfer them to the new cluster. It should be the same as other cars I've done but the needle doesn't stop at zero or the bottom of all gauges, it stops at the pin. So pull those out first and mark where the needle falls on the edge of the cluster so when you transfer the face you can have the needles in the same place. If they're the same as other ones I've done, they're no keyed at all, they just push on the end of the motor shaft.

When I did mine I bought new needles to match the blue so they came with a tool, it basically a flat plastic thing with a slit, lifts the needles off evenly from the underside.

I think they do or maybe they did.
If not, pull off the stock ones and paint them.
I did that before I got the blue ones

I know this thread is super old but I was able to find a 01 navigator dash I bought some aftermarket svt lighting white dash stickers I removed the old orange needles with a fork... But I made a huge mistake I didn't mark where the needles where positioned before I removed them from the original cluster. Now I know I have $60 dollars in gas in the tank but the low fuel light will come on even though the needle is no where near empty any idea on how I could fix this issue. Do I enter test mode on the dash and TEST gauges will they calibrate back to normal? Btw this a 01 XLT I did the whole solder the odometer pins in the back. I went from having 209k miles to 309k on the dash??
