I love the idea of the rubber floors and I don't want any more options then a base expedition. I guess I could always try to swap out the carpet with a kit on an active but figure I'd try this. I could buy it under my llc but it's got nothing to do with law enforcement. Anyone have any luck buying one new or swapping to the vinyl floor? Any places to look for hardly used SSV expeditions?

I saw recently (don't recall where) an aftermarket column shifter modification that replaces the console shifter in the later trucks. It was for the new gen truck where the center console has a desk top that flips over the console shifter (which retracts) so that you can continue to drive. You can also delete the console shifter and install a tray in its place.

I had a friend who bought a brand new Fox Body Mustang police cruiser years ago from a dealer. It was when FHP was using them and he was in the FHP Auxiliary. If I recall he incorporated his own little "town". He is long dead or I would not mention this. RIP Tyler...

You should probably approach a dealer of police vehicles and see if they have a previous model year or other overstock. Sometimes these show up in city auctions with very low miles because of fleet changes.

I bought a new 2023 Expedition XL (SSV) Package 102A last month from a Ford dealer in Ohio. Yes, that was a two-and-a-half-year-old, new, never registered truck with 10 miles on the odometer.

Got quite a deal on it.

Also saw a similar new 2023 White one in Florida.

You've just got to keep your eyes open. They're out there. Some Ford dealers will sell an SSV. Most dealers just don't want the hassle.

As I understand it, SSVs are sold to public safety and fleet customers only. You may find a friendly dealer who will order an SSV for you, but I suspect that they would have to jump through some hoops to do so. It's also possible that a dealer might get stuck with a new SSV if a customer cancels the order.

Another way to is to watch the companies who deal in used police vehicles. I found one company in the Chicago area who has three used Expedition XLs for sale (only available to fleets), two 2015s and a 2020. One of the 2015s is an EL with about 17,000 miles on it. https://asiamotorsinc.com/327145/2015-Ford-Expedition

Expedition SSV's aren't very common. Search around for Expedition XL.

There are four XL trim packages, last I checked. The Police SSV is an XL with Trim Package 102A

Two of the other XL trims are fleet trucks with carpet and consoles. Another is the STX 5-passenger low end trim.
This may have all changed with 2025's "Active" focus group new trim names.

For 2024, the XL packages were Standard 100A, Mid Package 101A, SSV Package 102A, and STX Package 104A.

The 2024 102A package included:

For 2025, the Order Guide shows XL with only one package, 102A, which includes:

It appears that 2025 SSVs still have a center console and still have the transmission shifter as a rotary dial on the console. Not sure how the upfitters are handling that.

I've seen the shifter dial on the 2025's mounted on an outcrop of the dash. This is similar to the normal Expeditions and the SSV "consolette" is the small one-piece plastic one that's provided on the 22, 23 and 24, which are usually removed by outfitters.
