Is anyone available in Tampa capable or willing to check my sync 4 APIM for my 2021 Ex. I just installed my new 12inch sync 4 from 8 inch sync 3. I can’t find the new APIM on FORscan. I’m hearing that it needs to be programmed and properly installed using FDRS. Just want it to be capable of receiving updates when necessary and possibly some other mods. I will pay, just think the $299 fee ford charges is a bit steep. Please message me with any suggestions. Thank you.

Probably not the answer you're looking for, but paying a Ford dealer $299 to program a new APIM swap is worth it. The dealer will have the equipment to ensure this swap will work correctly...as long as the Tech doing the work is familiar enough with the equipment :)

No dealer I know is going to willingly program a 2021 for Sync 4 compatibility. Period. You will need a 3rd party with a valid FDRS license. Did you confirm they had the coding for a 2021 Expedition to be able to supply you? This was not a configuration that ever existed. In addtion whoever provided it to you, are they assuming the programming between the BCM and the Sync 4 Firmaware APIM is the same as a 150, because it isn't. Well it most likely isn't. There is a fair amount of code different between the two. I assume they are assuming the 2022 coding will work, which it might, but not an assumption.

Where did you purchase this kit from? I know several of the vendors that sell these conversions, and most don't do the early 4th Gen(2018-2021) to SYnc 4 conversions. Full disclosure, I haven't looked recently.

Try www.infotainment.com . They are located near me and sell upgrades for SYNCH maybe they can send you to a proper shop. They are in Oviedo 32765.
They have full kits, and are a top notch company. They include an OBD built in programmer to make the changes for you that need to be done. For 2018-2020 you need to swap the ACM module to get full preset functionality. 2021's already have the new ACM.

Infotainment is exactly who I used. Had to return APIM back to them after installing it, but still not appearing on FORscan. Also not allowing me to access certain features that were available on sync 3.

And you have a 2021? They sent the OBD reprogrammer? They give you specifics on what was needing to be changed?

They did. For instance, I can’t make changes through FORscan because APIM is not showing up as installed. Also, can’t seem to change which buttons are on bottom of screen. I do like the screen and it does work, just can’t edit it like I could with sync 3. Doesn’t appear to connect with connectivity button or Alexa Amazon. All the available WiFi connections are not appearing which I believe is preventing me from getting owners manual as well.
