2010 model, twin climate control.
I replaced to one behind radio with a Ford actuator. It still ticks. is there a way to reset the thing? Everything else works fine. I did also have to replace the one next to the drivers foot pedals. That one is fine, no ticks. 3 or 4 ticks on turn key on, then it stops. If I adjust ac temp from 74 to 73, ticks..
That is reason I am asking about a real reset. I tried unhook negative from battery and leave it for about 10/ 15 minute. Making sure ac/heat was off before I started. I did call local ford service shop and asked about reset. They said it was a plug and play unit. I should have no problem.

FYI, the back bolt that holds the actuator in, I replaced with a longer one. I shimmed it with washers tape on the correct length. Not a problem replacing now.

This is a reset procedure for the actuator to relearn the full cold and full hot positions for the door.
I did this on my 2010 a while back, this procedure has to be done everytime the blend door is unplugged and/or replaced.

In the Passenger Compartment Fuse box, pull fuse #46, (Owners manual says "Climate Control, Auxiliary Relay Control."
Remove fuse for 1 minute, then replug back in. Make sure the ignition is off when you do this.
Before you turn ignition on, make sure the HVAC system is in the off position.

When you turn the ignition to the "on" position, do not touch the temperature controls. Wait 1 minute for the actuator to recalibrate itself.

Once a minute has passed, turn off ignition, then turn back on. Now it has learned its position and is ready to use.

I made sure the ac/heater was off. I turned ignition off. Fuse I pulled was 7.5. 5 minutes out, replaced. I turned key on to run position, no start for a about 2 min. Then I started engine and pushed the auto button. I ran temp control up to 90, then started lowering both pass a driver control down 1 at time. everything was ok until I got to 60. tick tick tick. It would not stop. maybe another fuse? I will try that one again.....

If you turn it down to 60, does it automatically turn on Max A/C?
I know some versions do that.

If that's the case Max A/C turns on the Recirculated Air, which if that actuator is bad, it will knock.

On my 2011, I found that changing the temp for the right side heat and A/C the ticking is related to the actuator that is basically behind the radio. The driver's side is tied to the actuator below the blend door box. When it started clicking, I simply turned the temp a couple of degrees higher until I got a replacement. Now my lower one is bad and it seems to be a much more complicated endeavor.

Yesterday I had a little help to check door modules. The one on the Bottom it causing the ticking. Replacing it would be a bear of a job. I don't know if I will change it without help. It seems when temperature is cool, and temp set at 74, no ticking on startup.
I checked UTUBE for help but what I found I don't want to to. I don't mind taking things apart to get to it, but cutting thing just to get to it seems unreasonable.

Is there a fuse that can be pulled to just stop it ? I don't mind something not adjusting. Any ideas?

Max ac door is good.

I pulled fuse # 46, and started engine with ac off. started ac with buttons without hitting auto. cycled settings with buttons. then temp up and down. when I got to 65. tick tick tick . up one no tick. It seems that when its cool outside it works ok. Then I replaced fuse with ac off. and ran engine, no change. When outside temp is up, I get more ticks even if the ac is off and I just turn key on. I still think it is out of adjustment.
I am still looking for answers.

My last time adding to this.
I replaced the top actuator again. That makes 3. The last 2 were from the Ford Dealer. The last one was an exchange. No more tick. All were "Made In China". I guess the last one was set correctly. I hope this helps someone with the same problem....
