Brake Caliper Leak and Replacement

That makes more sense. I find it crazy that both would go bad at the same time.

If it's not a common issue, most mechanics would see that and construe it to be leaking seals. It could be grease if that's how they were assembled, but that would be kind of stupid.

My thoughts exactly. I've been doing brake jobs for 30 years and have never seen that before.

Jury is still out for me. Could be a slow leak at the seal on mine and the tech just blew it. I'm still watching the reservoir...

So I probably got screwed. The vehicle is done, so no chance just to seals. May have been mis-diagnosed.

That one pic sure looks like it's leaking fluid out of the caliper piston seal. Can't leave it like that. Need to either replace the whole unit or the seal. My bet is that motorcraft does offer a rebuild kit for those calipers so the only thing the dealer could offer is to replace.

An actual mechanic would have replaced the $10 seals, unfortunately the parts specialist they hire these days just replace parts. Not actual mechanics

Nope. Seems a bit like hitting the lottery while getting struck by lightning...

My 2018 had rear pads replaced first, fronts are still original at 52k miles. On the new gen Expeditions the rears seem to wear out first. Perhaps they might be a little under sized or with all the computerized drivetrain equipment they get used more often or apply a higher percentage of over braking than a traditional sedan.
