Actually they don’t. Some are now using both direct and port injection. See newer DI like ecoboost.

Did you even read my comment...?!?

The dual injection Motors still have the issue with buildup, just less, because the majority of the time they are still DI.

Heck the Hellcat has port injection, but comes with a factory oil separator(not as good as a true catch can). Most recommend a true catch can for those too!

I have owned 5 EcoBoosts! I am very aware of how they work and their differences.

I own a 2020, and before that a 2017, before that a 2015. My statement was 100% correct. Any DI(Only) motor has buildup issues. The dual injection just helps...but does not eliminate the issue.

If you have a Motor that has DI, you should run a catch can if you are looking for longevity. Heck, Mustang guys have been adding them for decades...with Port Injection.

A remote filter sounds like overkill for any reason. They stock filter works fine and changing that filter is a little tricky but not a big deal.

Yes all DI motors have an intake valve build up problem but they are working feverishly to correct it because DI is so great. My 850cc snowmobile has it and puts out over 3 hp per cubic inch and purrs like a kitten.

    Hello,
I guess that I am feeling impulsive this morning. I usually let these things go.

Welcome Larry! Congrats on the new, to you, Expedition! I recently got mine and am still sorting it out. Sorry that I can't help answer your question, I've got the 5.4 and I don't plan to use it enough to wear it out.

Everyone uses their vehicles differently. If you plan on putting 500,000 miles on your vehicles and a bypass filter helps you get there (or just sleep better), go for it. My first forum experiences were at the TDIClub. Lots of people put bypass filters on their little diesels. Did they need to, of course not! But, they loved them and loved to experiment with them (N2O on a Diesel Beetle!?!).

    All,
I would find this forum more pleasant and more useful if there were more comments like LokiWolf's, (paraphrasing here) "...can't help with the bypass filter, but the catch can is a great idea and JLT is a good brand...". He shared his opinions and then added to the conversation. (I'll add this link so that I am adding something tangible to the conversation as well - https://www.amazon.com/2011-2017-3-5EB-JLT-Passenger-Separator/dp/B06WGTBSBG.)
