Landing a 2026 SPP here in the next month or so, wondering if anyone has any good oil catch can recommendations?

I'm assuming most F-150 3.5L options should be reasonably close, but wondering if anyone here has something they've installed and are happy with the fitment and quality.

Had a 2016 3.5 ecoboost from new for 125k miles, never had a catch can either. Maybe it would have fixed the carbonizing on the throttle body? Otherwise no issues.

I had a Gen2 Coyote in my last coupe and a catch can was almost a must due to the direct injection setup, figured it might be even more of a benefit down the line given the same direct injection plus turbos.

My thoughts is it probably is not necessary on a 3.5 EB but on my daily driver, a 2018 F150 5.0L that had the engine replaced last year due to excessive oil consumption causing a secondary timing chain failure, I think it should come stock with a catch can. My reasoning is that if one of the fixes for that engine is changing the PCV valve due to oil vapors, it couldn't hurt to have a catch can. I have owned 5 different vehicles with the 3.5 EB and have not had a catch can on any of them and they all ran great even after over 130000 miles.
But I also say it is your vehicle and money and if it helps you to better sleep at night, go for it. If you do, then please try to do a bore scan if you can before you put it on and then after you get a lot of mileage so we can see the difference. Doing that may put to bed the idea that catch cans work or don't work.

Thanks and good luck on your decision.

I haven't seen a '25 plus EB yet but on my '19, the catch can has absolutely had a minimum of about 2oz of oil in it every oil change if not more. Mine only catches the passenger side, i know there are brands that do both but I'm guessing there isn't anything substantially different in the new models to get rid of this need. My understanding is that even though these are the 5th gen Expy, it's still a 2nd gen ecoboost with some slight changes.

Curious.....which catch system did you use ??? Maybe a Ford system from an F-150 ??? Or aftermarket ? Considering for my 2019. Had a Ford system on my previous 2021 Ranger, and it worked quite well.

I had a J&L on my Coyote, very well built in my opinion.
Agreed, my mounting bracket broke and they quickly sent me a new one free of charge. Honestly, I think it broke because of the flimsy hood. I recently drove through some of our 90+ mph winds and I swear that hood was moving 2"+ of center, up and down, I honestly slowed down worried the hood was gonna snap and block my view. Regardless of how it broke, they were very good about replacing it, about 2 years after buying it.

Thanks for the JL info, have seen it on their site.
But, on my previous Ranger I had the Ford Air/Oil Separator and it worked very well.
Trying to find out if the Ford Air/Oil Separator listed for the 2019 F-150 would be a direct fit for the 2019 Expy...
I like the fact the Ford unit looks factory and is a direct bolt/snap on fit for the F-150 3,5 engine....
Are the 3.5's in both the same as far as "plumbing" and hose routing ?
Ford parts lists one for 2017-2020 F-150 which tells me there were no changes to the engine....but is the Expy the "exact" same ?

@Grrumpy I'm pretty sure they are identical but not 100%. My guess is the "Ford" one isn't even made by Ford. My JL was plug and play, all be it mounting the bracket to my battery box took a few minutes.

Thinking that with the latest version of the ecoboost that has both direct and port injection, the risk of excessive gurk loading the valve stems make the catch can less of a "thing.?" I had a can on my 2012 ecoboost F150 that was direct only.

I have a catch can on my 2019. I have the long JL version and empty it every oil change.
