Cigarette lighter 12v question.

So I purchased a cigarette lighter for our 2022 Expedition and I go to push it in to try and see if it works. It doesn't. So I tried a different 12v location in the Expedition and same thing. No worky worky. So then I take it to my moms 2020 escape and same thing. I guess my question is do you need to have the smokers package to use a cigarette lighter in them? It almost looks like all of the 12v outlets have a small ring inside. And no it's not for smoking. They are great to use to light sparklers for the kids lol. Oh and no fuses are blown.

The sockets aren't made to work with lighters. You can replace the entire socket very easily if you really want a lighter there.

Yeah, it's part of the "Smokers Kit" option package. But you can buy the lighter kit separate and install it yourself pretty easy.
