Year, make and model?

How did you determine the defect was present when you bought it three years ago, but just now saw it?

It 2020 ford expedition max platinum bougth in 2022.

it located pasenger side around the middle, just next to the roof rail. I did not saw that when i bought it, i would say it's quite well hidden.
Also the puck was probably black and start rusting so it's more apparent now. Even on the running board it's not that visible.
I was doing maintenance on my travel trailer "next to it" and been higher it caught my attention.

My hypothesis is probably had some sort of light bar installed and they removed it, but since i dont know the history of the vehicule i was quite surprise.

In a place you REALLY don't wanna be !
Well, whatever it was, that's one helluva sloppy-assed patch 'em up job :Pshyco:

I'm just guessing here, but that looks as if it could have been where a police/fire dept flashing/rotating light was mounted, or perhaps a satellite dish or some type of antenna....

I can't really understand how you did not notice it when you bought it, but obviously you did NOT look it over very well prior to driving it home....:Grenade:

Your comment make me think could it be to allow a magnet to stick, since the body is all aluminium as far as i know ?
I will look more closely if it seems to be mounted with 3M tape or something similair.

The pic does look like it's been stuck on the roof as opposed to a "patch" for the roof. Try and heat it up a bit and pull it off.

Rugged Radios, who caters to the off-road crowd, sells these disks for mounting antennas on aluminum or fiberglass roofs.

That was my thought too when I looked at it - it's sitting proud of the surface like something stuck to the roof panel, rather than a patched hole.

I would not try heating, yanking, or prying on it. I would visit a local bodyshop and see what they think. Even if it's just some professional opinions. Even better, maybe they'll get that off and buffed for a couple hundred bucks. Better that than you crying into your poutine because you screwed your roof up.

Heat and fishing line would be the first thing I'd try. Too easy to screw something up with prying, but if it's got the right adhesive, the fishing line should pop it right off. I've used it to make short work of factory installed badging that didn't have locator holes.
