Left vehicle outside over night temps were down in single digits, next am, put in reverse loud clunk. Vehicle was hesitant to move in reverse, felt like parking break was on. Put it in forward and felt like was in very high gear and didn't want to move. Let it sit a few min and then all was normal. Any ideas? 2022 with 46,000 miles.

Also why a colder running thermostat might not be ideal. Let it warm up some before using it. Heck even my old manual transmission car would need to run a bit before it shifted decently in those temperatures

my 22 with 51k also does some weird shifting/slipping/holding gears if i don't let it warm up first on especially cold days. Probably notice it more as I immediately have to go up a hill after turning out of my driveway.
my 18 F150 (3.5 eco, 10spd) does not have this issue. But I've also got it tuned, and its only got 34k mi.

Same problem here with 2022 Expy Ltd with 29k miles. Outdoor temps in low 20s with hesitant reverse that would slip out. Dealer kept it for 10 days concluding this trans and oil need short warmup. Could find nothing wrong with trans or other codes. I am in NM. Not sure what owners in the far north are going to do. No issues on warmer mornings.

I have a ‘22 with 45k miles. The few hesitant shifts (mostly from 1st to 3rd and 6th to 7th) have all been when I just started down the road out of my driveway in cold temps. It was probably single or low double digit temperatures.

I definitely think there is something to this transmission and how it acts when it’s cold outside.

This is very common in your kind of weather. I suggest starting your car and let it sit until the thermostat opens up and you are reading a normal running temperature. It will also help prevent the turbos from having future issues. I start mine, remove the sun visor, turn off the auto brake, put on my seatbelt, then put it in gear. I don't have anywhere near your temps, but that 3 to 4 minutes of the engine running heats and pumps the oil and trans fluid. Also, because of me having twin turbos, I put the vehicle in park, take off my seatbelt, put up the sun visor, put on the parking brake, then shut the vehicle off.

The colder stat won’t change a thing on a cold takeoff. Mine is exactly the same as before. Trans still does better with a bit of warming up. Anything under say 35 out and it will shift hard 3-4 and 5-6. Warm it some and that doesn’t happen as much or hard. Summer it never happens.
