Based on my research, the answer to your question is "Yes." Failures have occurred in both places. I was apparently lucky (unlucky) enough to be one of the ones to have the failure back by the rear heater core. Are these coolant hose failures due to the plastic Y pipe failing? Or, due to the aluminum crimp sleeves that are used to clamp the rubber hose to the Y pipe splitting and releasing its clamp?
When I had to replace mine the crimps were starting go at the firewall fittings, but ultimately my leak was the plastic fitting by the radiator hose. Are these coolant hose failures due to the plastic Y pipe failing? Or, due to the aluminum crimp sleeves that are used to clamp the rubber hose to the Y pipe splitting and releasing its clamp?
How did you get them to drop the price?Dealer wanted $1200 to replace the heater core hose....this might be the same issue. Got Ford corp to drop the cost to around $500, still robbery though.
I got quoted today $1000 to change both hoses. Does that seem right? That seems high to me. The hoses are only $300.
Watch a few videos of guys replacing the heater hose Y sections on Expeditions and you may have a better understanding of why the labor charge to do so is so high.
My memory is terrible but I know I complained of the cost, I believe the dealer setup a correspondence number and then I called Ford customer service to complain about the cost. Ford corporate authorized the cost reduction. How did you get them to drop the price?
