Cooper Discoverer Tires?

Has anyone tried the Cooper Discoverer HTP II tires?

Hitting 35k on my original Toyos and they’re already down to 4/32s. Local Costco has a set of those 4 cooper’s for $800 after tax. Tempting! 65k mile warranty and spec wise it looks like they’re comparable to Michelin defenders

I have the Cooper Discoverer ATP II on mine. Those are the special AT tire for Discount Tire Stores. Not the apples to apples, but I've been reasonably happy with them. They are round and black, and the ride on them is nice. Can be a smidge sketchy on wet pavement under acceleration but have done well for me on and for easy off-road stuff. I can't complain, I'd buy the brand again, especially at the lower prices compared to others.

No, NO, and Hiel NO.....do NOT buy tires from Wallyworld under any circumstances, unless you just want el-cheapo tires for a vehicle that you're gonna sell off/trade in soon, or you just like throwing money away...

Been there, done that, NEVER AGAIN !

The difference between the $200 Costco tires & the $152 ones @Wallyworld comes from the extensive corner-cutting the mfgr's have to do to get them down the price point that WW wants, which compromises the tread life, puncture resistance, & sidewall integrity....

Plus, should an issue with tread life arise (which it will), neither WW nor the mfgr will honor the warranty, since WW is NOT an authorized dealer for most brands, even though they want you to think that they are, but will shrug & tell you to contact the mfgr...

Nope, not doin that, especially on a big, heavy SUV...

But to be clear, the Cooper Discoverers (from a reputable tire shop) are decent tires, not premium/top-tier by any means, but decent overall for reasonable prices

With all the wisdom I have acquired in this humble life, I have found that you get what you pay for. There is a reason one product is more expensive than others, just let the buyer beware.

We'd gotten Coopers on Wife's vehicle and were impressed, so I tried Discoverer SRX 245/65/R17 on our Honda Ridgeline truck and they were (and remain) a revelation at least in that they made a huge difference in quieting the road noise. This was 7 years ago and now 30,000+ miles later they still look as new with little noticeable tread wear.

Dunno the HTP or ATP II versions but imo Coopers are/can be first-rate tires.

I don't have experience with these particular coopers, I have been running cooper mud tires on my jeep for 10 years and they are super great and I have been happier with them than the Goodyears and BFG's that I had before the coopers. I would not consider coopers a second tier tire.

I have only bought one set of tires from wally and they were fine but I don't usually look for tires there.

We put Cooper Discoverer Road and Trail AT's on our 21 last fall. Fantastic tires. Three peak snow rated and 65k mile warranty.

This tire is my next replacement. I've already done research. It is better than Bridgestone - DUELER A/T ASCENT. The only downside for me is Costo doesn't carry Cooper Discovery.

I can't speak to the HTP's specifically, but I put Cooper Discoverer AT3's on my '16 EL at 103k miles based on recommendations from this group. I'm at 160k now, and still have plenty of tread left. Ride is responsive, traction is good in all weather types, and efficiency averages ~17mpg. I will likely replace them with the same, if still available when the time comes.
