Have a Rough Country Frankenstein lift installed next week on a 2020 Expedition Max Limited. The truck only has 1/4" rake so I am using the 1" front leveling kit and the back part of the 2/1 lift kit to achieve 1" front and1" rear.

Paying to have a shop install, and wondering if while they are pulling the struts out, should I just have them install shocks while they are in there? Anyone know the correct part numbers for the Bilstein 5100s front and rear?

Why not skip the RC together and just get a set of Billsteins for the front and the rear? Set the front at the second to top mark and the backs to the top and that should lift it 2-2.5 inches easy.

Shock Surplus is the way to order them. Plug in year and make and everything shows up.

For the setup using the Expedition front shocks:

F= 24-285056
R= 24-285063

Using the F-150 front strut (lowest ring nets the ~2" lift immediately). Most people go this route to not pre-load the spring as much for the same lift.
24-248129

All parts from the the take offs are to be carried over to assemble the Bilsteins (top hats, springs, etc.).

When it comes to the RC kit, I would use it for the front UCA's and rear control arms to center the suspension. Chuck the spacers.

Will the 24-248129 work on a CCD Expy?

Technically any of these PN's will work. The OEM shocks will require disconnecting from the CCD system, but will prompt a fault. IVD has a module that will supposedly keep the system happy in the absence of the shocks.

Depending on year, sounds like Off-Road Research may have a solution. Someone from there posted on this thread https://www.expeditionforum.com/threads/ccd-delete-or-testing.43716/page-3 that one of these https://www.orrsrch.com/product-page/orrsrch-raptor-gen2-did-damper-interface-device should work. Tom and I emailed back and forth and this model should cover my 2021 w/CCD, even though the page lists up to 2020. Not the cheapest thing, but appears to be the only option I have found, short of trying to cut off the module from the side of each strut.

Brutally expensive for what it is, isn't it? Would be great if a tuner like 5star could include this functionality in their tunes. I could justify that expense, but not ~350 for this.

I agree it's rather pricey, although some of it would be offset by having cheaper strut pricing options over replacement CCD struts.

I purchased the off-road research module and 5100’s, only to be told by a shop today that the spring seats on the ccd shocks are welded and can’t be reused. Can anyone confirm this?

Any updates on this? The Ford dealer is telling me the spring seats on my 2019 Expedition Max XLT cannot be reused for Bilstien 5100 install. I don't believe it has CCD.

Looks like that may be a true assessment looking at the stock photo of the shock.

Not sure on the why they're telling you they can't be reused? XLT would only use "normal" struts. The perch just needs persuasion to come off.

So would you say that the Bilstein 5100s would gain you some lift by themselves? I have an '18 Expy FX4 XLT that I would like to (and could) get to 34.8" wheels using the stock rims. RC full kit will do that but wondering if I could get there with just the Bilsteins

The 5100's would gain you lift no matter what. For the sake of argument, a Billy on a normal truck would give you 2". On an FX4 package that's ~1" higher stock, the net difference may be 1" more.

Either way you should be able to achieve your end result in getting 35's under there.

If I were here, you would know it !
So since I will be rebuilding my front end in the spring, I have been reading some other threads on this subject, and came across one that said:

Go with Billies 5100's if you want lift, go with 4600's if you wanna stay stock or as close to it as possible.

Can anyone confirm this, as I've seen a pretty big price delta between the two models. And is this the only REAL difference ?
