Can Forscan be used to modify the lights so that the Daytime Running Lights come on automatically when the vehicle is started?

Any advice is appreciated.

I had a 2012 Limited and now have a 2017 Limited and I programmed them in the set up system to come on. It may be only allowed in certain models. Check your manual.

Thanks for the Replies. Apparently, I do not have DRL enabled on my vehicle. I tried putting it in drive with no luck.

I have ForScan, but am not that familiar. I checked the ForScan Forum and someone indicated I need to enable "Parklamps". Does anyone have the details on how this is done?

Thanks in advance.

Found this from HavasuMike 5/5/2018

"Success!! For newbies like me, this is how I did it. This time, I did not use the "as built" BCM. I used the BCM without as built and everything came up in english. It said "daytime running lights" and "disabled". I just clicked on disabled and the options came up "enable". After selecting enable, the options for head lamps or fog lamps came up. I selected head lamps, saved (write) and everything worked. Besides the head lights, the parking lights are also on. I think I read somewhere that there is an option to turn them off. When you use the as built module, you get the codes where you change one byte at a time."

Now I have to try to see if I can hook up the ForScan.

I just did the same thing on my 08 LTD. There was only the option to "enable" or "disable", no choice between fog or headlights. Now they are enabled but it turns on ALL lights, parking and tail, with headlights at a dimmer setting.

Well, today I discovered that my DRL's are headlight only. All lights were on when I first enabled DRl but I saw the reflection in someone's tailgate and after checking, I found that only the headlights were on. Thought I'd update in case someone was in interested.

I have the same issue. Been looking into a ForScan solution with no luck. I have found info on how to change the coding language, but cannot figure out how the software works.

I made the change the same way you described it, without the "as built" BCM. When I checked them afterwards they were initially all lights (parking, tail) but now they are the headlights only. If I did anything to make this happen it was purely by accident and I have no idea what it was. Could it be that the setting takes some time to fully be recognized? IDK.

My 2017 Expedition XLT doesn't have DRL and according to the dealer they can't be installed. Now I don't speak Fortran, so I don't know what you're talking about.

I’ve been playing with FORScan the last few weeks and it is a powerful tool for both monitoring the systems as well as making changes such as DRL. On my 2007 I can’t change much, but I was able to turn off TPMS so I no longer see that light. I believe you can do quite a bit of customization on a 2017.

Bumping this thread.

Is there a spreadsheet or source for 3rd gen expeditions that are not 2015+?

Nope. And the info is scarce.
Bummer. Would you be willing to help me try and put together something for the earlier 3rd gens? I'm more than happy to set up a spreadsheet similar to yours and do testing on my 2012 for the forum. You did amazing work for the 2015+! Would love to see something similar for the earlier 3rd gens.

Reviving this thread - found this online if someone wants to give it a shot:

IPC (Optional)
DRL Control Function: 720-02-01 - xxCx-xxxx-xxxx

8 = Disabled
C = Enabled - NOTE: Still greyed out, but displays DRL option thru Advanced Settings--Vehicle--Lighting

BCM
DRL Feature: 726-09-01 - ***1-xx

0 = Not Present
1 = Present

DRL Type: 726-11-01 - x1xx-xxxx-xx
0 = None
1 = Low Beams
