2019 Expedition Limited Stealth with all options.

I brought my expy to the dealer because the 360 camera system stopped working. When I push the camera button on the dash nothing happens anymore. The 360 view is also gone when in reverse and just displays the rear view camera. No front or side cameras displaying.
The dealer called me back and said they reprogrammed the "module" but it still needs the cameras alignment and proceeded to say that my "warranty" doesnt cover the camera alignment and I would need to pay $400 for this.

Im pretty sure my Ford PremiemCare ESP covers the 360 cam system and camera aligment procedure or am I wrong? I have a feeling they are scamming me..

An alignment? Did you have a problem with the 360 view? If not say no thank you.. worse case scenario you take it back for a calibration, but that typically only after a crash or window replacement

Without reading your post and only seeing the title, my first thought was “change the ‘?’ to a ‘!’ and that’s an accurate statement.” After reading your post, my thought is “change the ‘?’ to a ‘!!!’ and that’s an accurate statement.” Total scam. If you didn’t sign a work order for that work to be done, say no thanks like @LegalBrief said. Your Expedition, your choice.

Or just go by and have them show you why they need alignment. They could have screwed with something and messed up one of the cameras somehow (though I'm sure have no idea how, but still). Better to learn that now rather than after you pick up the keys.

Ford ESP should cover that if a repair was needed. Dealer sounds like a scam. I’d call Ford if the dealer refuses to do anything about that.

Recently I took my 2015 Expedition Limited 4x4 to the Ford dealer where I have it serviced. I have the Ford Premium Extended Service Plan (ESP), purchased there. The LR and RF door lock actuators stopped unlocking when using the key fob, the inside door switch or the door keypad. The doors would lock okay.

The service advisor called and said the technician determined the lock actuators were defective and there were no electrical issue.

The advisor stated the Ford ESP would cover replacement labor and the part for the RF door lock (minus my deductible). The advisor stated the LR door lock was not covered under my plan, and the cost to repair the LR lock actuator was $680.

I protested and asked the advisor to call the Ford ESP number. She declined, stating the customer had to call to appeal a denial of a repair.

I called the Ford ESP number and reached a woman in the Philippines, who was VERY difficult to understand. After 43 minutes of trying to talk and being placed on hold, I was disconnected. I called back and was told by another woman the dealer had to initiate an appeal.

I contacted the dealer service manager and he agreed to file an appeal with the Ford ESP. He agreed the denial made no sense and both parts were mechanical lock actuators that should be covered (one was).

I paid the total cost to get my car back and am now waiting for an appeal reply.

This was not the first time I’ve had an issue with Ford’s ESP denying coverage. That time they agreed to pay the cost of repairs after I began an appeal.

I think the dealer hopes that the denial remains, as they make more money from customer-pay work, than the reimbursement by the Ford ESP.

Ford has moved their ESP customer service center to the Philippines. It is a mess to try to deal with them.

I will be sending a written appeal to the Ford ESP this week, although the dealer claims they have submitted an appeal.

Dealing with the Ford ESP is a mess. Another reason why my next new vehicle will not be a Ford.

I'd tell them you will Call corporate and confirm if they want to play this game. They'll probably just take care of it so you don't call.....

Hate to tell you but this is across the industry. I just got out of a Benz in which I had a very expensive full Mercedes warranty and had several cases I had to fight to have it covered. The final straw was a condenser leak with one of the refrigerant lines. The dealer made up a "theory" that the connector was somehow damaged? I was like WHAT!?! That hose was buried in the engine bay out of direct shot of anything. They denied warranty and wanted to charge me $2800 to replace it. I got it done at independent shop for $1400. I'm still waiting on hearing back from Benz on my appeal. Consumers need better projection from the games the dealers play.

Stay away from Fords. I have 2023 Expedition Max Limited. Top of the vehicle and ITS GARBAGE. Trans clunks. Engine was half ass replaced at only 16,000 miles on the odometer because it was burning too much oil. Ford won’t repair issues under the original warranty nor under the extended premium care warranty. GARBAGE COMPANY. NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Update : I contacted Ford Protect myself and they had no record of any dealer claims under my plan/vin (authorized or denied) So looks like the dealer did try to scam me by paying out of pocket to get my 360 cameras working/aligned again. Bringing the expy to a different dealer.

Update:

Brought my 19 expedition to a differnt dealer and they fixed my unresponsive 360-camera system fully covered under my Ford Premiumcare ESP like it should have been at the original dealer I brought it to!!

They had to reprogram the IPM-B module and then run the 360 camera alignment using floor grid patterns to align.

So, for those of you that feel a dealer is saying something is not covered and you know it should be, go to a diffdealers because that one was scamming u or didnt want to do the warranty work for you.

Dont go to Danvers Ford in Danvers, MA. They are horrible

That's why the current Ford CEO is going home soon. He is being fired. I don't know what he did except making those stupid money-losing electric vehicles to please some no-common-sense extreme leftists, and then pushing the quality control going downhill to cover the loss incurred by those electrical vehicles.

I think Fords big mistake was to stop making cars people could afford to drive, and put all their chips in $80K+ big SUVs and trucks. Now, I need a big SUV (or truck) to tow my camp trailer, and I can afford a relatively luxurious ride (hey, our other car is a late model Mercedes E Wagon), but most folks can't, they need a $25K Focus or whatever.

I just received an alert in my FordPass app about a recall on backup cameras. I've not had any issues with my 2021 Limited but it's covered by the recall. No rememdy yet available but I suspect the reprogram/realign will be the fix.

LOL, I'm not an extreme leftist and own an EV. It's one of the best, most economical vehicles I've ever owned. Compared to ICE, I get 100mpg, there's virtually no service needed, no transmission issues because it's one speed, and rides like a luxury car that will blow the socks off a Mustang GT. It costs me $15.00 to fully charge it at home and can travel 300 miles.
I suggest keeping your possible insulting political posts out of forums. We are here to discuss the vehicles not debate whether people are "no-common-sense extreme leftists" <---your quote.

I think this pretty much sums things up. A "car" is almost impossible to buy anymore as we have suv's galore and most manufacturers only build a few, if any "cars". The bigger picture is even something "cheap" is $40K and up. We were talking about replacing my wife's bullet proof 2015 RAV4. A Camry is $40Kish, and RAV4 is $40K+, plus dealer BS. Average folks can't afford $40-50K for a car plus dealer mark ups and taxes. Then add in (pending where you live) $500K+ for a house. We've lost our way for the middle class in this country. Don't blame the current guy or the last guy. It's been happening for decades, but based on the last three weeks...it's sounding like we're all in trouble.

Well they could just bring back the Taraus....probably the best built, most reliable, most affordable sedan Ford ever made :)

But that would make too much sense, we can't have that now can we ?

I'm talking about the one with the nice gentle curves, NOT that nightmare they called the 500 something something, god what a chopped off p.o.s that was, talk about mistakes, whoa, that was a major clusterfluke wammy for sure.....

IIRC. that Ford Five Hundred that replaced the Taurus was based on the chassis of the Volvo S80 (or something) with a Ford drive train
