Dimmed interior rear view mirror

One productive post deserves another... my interior rear view mirror is dimmed all the time. Can someone tell me what is the default mode: dimmed or non-dimmed. If it can't be fixed (?) I would prefer it to be non-dimmed so it is easier to use it during the day. Can I disconnect a wire?

The interior rear view self-dimming mirror on my 2015 Expedition Limited 4x4 is always non-dimmed during the daytime and nighttime.

I do not know how to fix it.

Perhaps look at the rear of the mirror through the windshield or from the interior with a small mirror, and see if something is obstructing the rear or unplugged?
