Completed internal engine work last week, installed new Ford 3V oil pump, tensioners, arms, and guides. No more startup rattle.

Here is the old style tensioner vs updated style and shown is the blown out unit that caused my concerns.

How many hours did you put into the tensioners, guides and pump? You don't catch a break, do you?

I’d guess 15-20 hours if I threw a random number out since I had to do it twice after a mistake. It was doable just relatively difficult/ time consuming.

I did it in 18 hours with no problems and you had tons of problems plus you took a lot more apart so there is no way you could have done that in 20 hours.

Cleaned up my old oil pump (Now a trophy) and found Ford updated the new one. There are various differences between Fords 2007 and 2020 built 3V pumps when I compared pics. Wonder if it’s just casting differences or if internal changes were made.

Looks like the biggest difference is the new pump has blind/closed holes for the bolts that hold the plate on the other side. It does have a plate of sorts on the opposite side that holds the guts in correct? The blind holes can’t leak around the threads and lose pressure.....Maybe????

Yes it’s a backer plate with star screws

Expy is looking *forward* to spring if it will ever come. We’ve had lake effect snow this week in mid May, never in my life! Cloud cover here was pretty sweet.

I had a 2011 Limited and my wife and I loved it. It had all the extras we needed. After it was totaled, we purchased a 2017 Limited. It has the extras we like. We looked at the others but we felt this the one we wanted. Oh, and we got a great deal, it was a demo.
