My 02 expedition brake lights had stopped working about 2 months ago. It wasn't the bulbs as I replaced them all, and my tail lights and reverse lights all still worked when my headlights were turned on. I also replace my brake switch sensor and nothing. A few weeks later I had my after market deck upgraded and rewired, my brake lights began working again for about a day then stopped. The following week my wipers started malfunctioning and working only sometimes, but corrected the issue on its own.

Moving forward about 3 weeks I started hearing clicking sound from under the dash, and my 4x4 light would flash on and off while driving, but only sometimes would that happen. That problem as well stopped on its own. Now with in two days my wipers and radio stopped working my 4x4 light along with my wiper fluid light are both flashing on my dash, there's a clicking from under the dash ( blue relay near the center console), the middle right half of my fuse box under my dash is now no getting any power, lost all use of my brakes and ABS control module is making a loud clicking/thumping sound even when my car is off and the vents are still blowing even after my car is off and I remove the keys.

Last but not lease my battery is drained.

I have no clue where to start other then replacing the blue relay that is clicking and replacing the ABS control module. But something tells me that is not the underlying problem. Is there something that could be triggering all these things to slowly start happening before eventually they all went haywire? Or is this just my luck and my truck is old and had very little/poor maintenance by the previous owner and now everything is just needing to be replaced due to its age and lifespan?

This in response also to your other post about brake fluid running out. There are brake senders on the side of the master cylinder that signal the cruise control and other circuits when the brakes are depressed. They can leak and will cause a fire. There was a recall at some point, for certain generation 1 vehicles to add a short wire harness and current limiting resistor in series with the sender. I suggest looking around the master cylinder for evidence of brake fluid being ejected from that sensor and any other couplings nearby.

As far as clicking under the dash . The body control module/GEM module and fuse box can get wet if the windshield is leaking by the A pillar on drivers side. A common problem.

I recently noticed while in the middle of a car wash, that water was leaking from the little console thing above the mirror. But it looked to just be dripping down into my cup holders and stopped once the car wash over. But the likely hood of it leaking elsewhere is probably high?

I didn't see any signs of leaking brake fluid near or around the master cylinder. My front passenger side tire had obvious brake fluid puddle on my rim and the caliber and brake lines were wet as well. I however did not find the cause of the leak, but I will further investigate after the snow is gone and the groundt isn't all wet and freezing. I'm also going to look into that recall.

thanks

My 2001 windshield cracked last year and in removing the glass (original) the installer showed me that the paint had de-laminated from the metal on the drivers side A pillar. It was very likely water was getting in. Not a lot in my case, but there is rust on the bare metal under dash. It is apparently very common for them to come loose on that side.

If the hoses have never been changed, you should do so right away and purge the system. My 2001 brake lines failed at about 88K miles causing a locked caliper in right rear. I had them all changed. The rubber gets very hard and brittle. If you have fluid there, that is your problem, or at least one of them.
