1998 5.4 automatic 2wd tow package 325k mi.
Only during slow petal application the engine stutters. Not enough to worry about it stalling, just jerky if petal is held in same position. Only other issue is if fuel level below 1/4 tank it will hesitate during acceleration. Two different types of engine malfunction, may be related. Oh, also if parked on a steep incline and front is uphill it won’t start with less than full tank. Otherwise (lol) no problems. All these problems been present for as long as I’ve known the vehicle which has been 15 years and 200k miles. My wife bought car new and says the 1/4 tank hesitation had been since new. I suspect something in tank pickup for that, but doesn’t explain the slow acceleration problem as hard acceleration there is no problem.
