So- Truck is getting crazy readings from the Evap Temp sensor and its causing the AC system to turn off the compressor at high blower. While medium blower is still ice cold, it doesnt cut it here.

Anyone found a way to bypass the evap temp sensor with another one that doesnt require removing the whole dash and buying a while evap coil? Ideas?

This is brilliant.

Did you actually perform this on your vehicle? If so, why does the wire to the "old" sensor have to be cut inside the HVAC housing? Why not cut it somewhere outside of the housing? I have two different friends with late model F150's that had the Evaporator's replaced when the temperature sensor failed (because the Evaporator and sensor are supplied as an assembly). Both have suffered multiple return trips to the dealers to fix collateral damage from the removal of the entire Instrument Panel. Orthoscopic Surgery is always preferred on vehicles for the same reasons as on humans.

Back when I used to work at Ford we would refer to the Instrument Panel Assembly as the "car within the car" because the instrument panel assemblies typically had the same number of components as the rest of the car combined. If you mess with them, the potential collateral damage is without limit.

That sensor actually plugged directly into the wiring harness of my wife’s 2017 navigator. We just tested it, it plugs in perfectly, however, you would still have to cut a hole in the evaporator box to get it inside to put it in the evaporator fins.

However, it did not fix our problem, the air conditioner will not stop attempting to cool the air and continues to run until the evaporator freezes over.

Conversely, the heater will only work on high with the “bad “sensor still plugged in and would only work on high with a brand new sensor plugged in. Unplugging the sensor, made the heater work correctly, but the air conditioner stopped trying to cool, plugging in the new sensor still has the air conditioner running full tilt and ignoring the auto temperature setting

Have you tried trouble shooting it on Forscan?

I have not, that is next on the list, just have to have time after work when she is already home to do it.

This morning, I’m going to disconnect the battery to hopefully reset the system from what I’ve read online and then I will reconnect the sensor and then the battery and see if that clears anything

Disconnected the battery, waited 15 minutes, reconnected battery(cleaned terminals/cables, didn't need it, but preventative), connected new sensor and so far it seems to be blowing heat when set to auto or to a temp setting that isn't the max.

Haven't tried A/C, will test everything after work tonight.

Fingers crossed.
