I am in the market buy a NON MAX 2024 Ford expedition. My research has resulted in the unusual discovery that every 2024 non max Expedition has the same payload capacity sticker regardless of Trim.
If the vehicle has the HD towing package installed, the number is 1405lbs. If it does not have the HD tow package, the number is 1358 LBs.

This is only the case for 2024s. The 2023 and 2022s i looked at, every vehicle had a different payload capacity. The XLTs are usually around 1700+ while the Limited's were around 1600+.

I have looked at probably 20+ vehicles and they all have the same sticker. Off course the Salesmen are completely clueless about why.

Anyone have any ideas as to why?

If this is true did they stop doing a VIN specific payload rating? Seems very strange that they would do that. The GVWR sticker would be the same on a lot of them, but payload # should be representative of the vehicle’s weight as optioned + full tank of fuel subtracted from GVWR.

certainly, a 4x4 should have a lower payload than a 2x4 as its curb weight is several 100 lbs heavier, with the front differential, transfer case, and associated axles.

For example, my 2019 Limited Stealth 4x4 says 7450 lb GVWR, and 1504 lb payload.

Interesting...my 19 Stealth 4x4 (123 WB and 8 passenger) shows a GVWR of 7400 and Cargo weight of 1538, but I see my Axle and Rear Spring codes are different than your sticker.

This doesn't really answer my question. I understand every trim and accessory will affect payload. My question is why is Ford slapping the same sticker on every 2024. Can this not be a legal issue if someone gets in an accident?
It could just be a sales sticker average, for exact numbers you should look on the door plate.
Im sure it's in the small print somewhere.

How much of a difference are we talking?
What is the maximum difference between the sticker average and vehicles actual door plate?

Nobody legally would go off the sales sticker anyway, they would go off of the door plate.

Is it possible you are looking at/seeing Expy's that are all Tow Package/3L Axle vehicles?
