In case anybody is wondering, I was able to use some 2015 style F150 crew cab running boards on my 2014 Expedition EL. I used the original Expedition mounts and the F150 running boards, one hole lined up in each running board mount and I drilled and tapped the remaining mount holes in the aluminum running boards, super easy to tap the board. They seem very solid and allow better footing then the original ones which i thought were too shallow and could be slippery when wet. They may provide extra door protection as well

That’s a great option. I’ve been wanting to do the f150 board install on my 2010 short wheelbase expedition model. Pretty sure I need to be looking for an extended cab f150 running board version but looking to hear input from others on this. The regular expedition factory power boards are about 80” length.

The ones off the crew cab were just a few inches shorter than the original EL length ones, but you can't see any difference once installed. They have been on for a few months and completely happy with them.
