If that's the case, then you probably answered will I need a new core. Give it a try, save as much clean new coolant as you can. That stuffs not cheap these days. Like any bad situation, go into it expecting the worse, be pleased if it works with flushing.

Funny that I only keep older vehicles and sometimes ones that are over 20 years old and I have never had a heater core get clogged up or had to flush one. I've even used stop leak two to three times in some of these vehicles because I'm too lazy to fix the problems and they still don't get clogged up. I have had to replace a few that rotted out over the years and leak so badly that I had to replace them but never had one clogged up. Every time I have a weak heater is because it needs a new thermostat.
