I live in a rural area and drive a lot of twisty back roads. I changed the mirrors on my F150 to the expandable tow mirrors and have had no issues on narrow roads. The only issue is when I drive up to a drive through I sometimes have to pull them in. My wife had the tow mirror option on her 16 Transit and while she hated them at first she grew to love them. Now that she has the 17 Expy she misses the bigger mirrors so we went to the aftermarket Ford style that some others have here. I'll be installing them on Friday. Also, we tow a lot and the stock mirrors are absolutely worthless if you have an 8' wide trailer.

I hated any of the strap on junk. They all shook so bad they were useless. I didn’t want to replace my OEM mirrors because I like the power fold, blind spot monitoring, etc and frankly I just like the color matched look of my oem side mirrors. So after spending an hour trying out every single set of molded slide on mirrors at camping world, I finally found that the ones with the best fit were a completely different make. I want to say they were for the Ram? I’ll take photos in a bit when it’s light out and if anyone really wants to know which part number they were I can see if I can find it.

Can anyone say why some 3rd gens have an integrated convex mirror whereas others do not?

Is it a standard length versus EL thing? Certain years? Unmentioned tow package addition for some years? Do you give up this feature with BLIS?

OEM, not stick-on aftermarket, as you can see:

Another example, but interestingly this one isn't power fold:

Maybe the ones with the convex mirror do not have the blind spot system in them? I have the BLIS option and I think I would rather have the convex one shown above. The notification light is too small to be seen in your periphery.

Not sure.
I have the XLT with zero fancy options and it has the convex mirror.

Did some digging. Based on Taska's illustrations & Google images, the convex was a 2012+ thing.
How & when you got/didn't get it is beyond me.

If you wanted to upgrade/replace just the glass, keeping your stock housings:
* Drivers with power fold: CL1Z-17K707-D -- $95'ish
* Drivers without power fold: CL1Z-17K707-C -- $80'ish
* Passengers with power fold: CL1Z-17K707-A -- priced $245+ !!!! Just the glass!
* Passengers without power fold: Nothing found

CL1Z-17K707-B is a passenger side, "objects behind you" warning in Arabic.

Appears you pay a little for the power fold logo, assuming the glass is identical and interchanges.

Oddly enough, when it comes to replacement glass-only for BLIS vehicles, which do not have this convex corner, its the drivers side that is priced nuttier than squirrel shit:
* Driver FL7Z-17K707-C -- $250
* Passenger FL7Z-17K707-A- $100
