Just wondering if anyone has MOD their expedition following MODS

Global windows close and open windows -Open close windows with remote

Lincoln power fold on lock close mirror when lock

Please let me know what needs to be change in the body control module(BCM) for it to work or does it need to be done in the DDM

Ford Expedition 2016 Platium

Thanks

You need to refer to the spreadsheet. way more info over here.

I believe both of those are changeable through the non-hex interface so should be straight forward.

3rd gens don't have the hardware for global windows or auto fold mirrors

Not quite accurate. The issue is the BCM controls the windows(at least in the 2015-2017). Nobody knows the coding for the BCM for that function, because there is nothing to reference to see what the proper coding would be. The Door modules control the Windows in most other fords, and that programming is consistent(Mostly) across many fords of the same generation. There is probably a way, but other than having a Ford Engineer tell us, we will never know. I actually worked on it for several weeks off and on in 2016 trying to find the right coding.

Respectfully disagree. 3 of the 4 windows are not capable of 1 touch operation. There are a number of hardware differences between the Expedition and Navigator to enable 1 touch operation of the front passenger window. As far as I'm aware, every other vehicle capable of global windows has 1 touch windows.

You are missing my point.

I am only discussing the windows. Autofold I did not care about so never worked on it on the 2015 or 2017. Our 2020 has it, and it is nice.

There are several pieces at play. The Window switch hardware(Part 1), and the Coding(Part 2). Follow me here.

Part 1:
You could remotely up/down(Global Windows, some Fords that is Driver, some both front, some all 4) any Ford Window that has one touch. When you press the window switch, it does not directly control the motor. In most Fords it goes to the DDM(Driver Door Module), which then also talks to the BCM via CAN. In the 2015-2017 Expedition, there is NO DDM. So the BCM is directly involved. So in theory the 15-17 could atleast have the Driver Window controlled by the remote, because the hardware exists.

Part 2:
Coding now becomes the issue. Nobody knows the coding for the BCM controlled motors, because it is a rarity, and an exception to the rule in the module configuration of that generation. I tried. Not a rookie at FORSCAN. Worked with them on the 2015-2017 coding several times. Also on the changes that happened to the 2020's.

So yeah, without one touch that window can't do it, but the other piece is the coding, and far more important, because you could change the switch.

I understand your point. I just think the reason you couldn't find the coding is because it doesn't exist. On the hardware side I don't see a way that the BCM is directly involved in the window operation other than providing power off the accessory relay. The brains are built into the motor, directly controlled by the switches.

I currently have a pile of switches and harnesses for the window motors. I've spent a fair bit of time probing playing spot the difference between the Expedition and Navigator. I haven't found any signal wires from the BCM to the switches or motors. Best I can tell the BCM provides 12v and pushing the switch passes that along to the motor.

The intention was to swap the Navigator parts into the Expedition, but I didn't realize until after I got all the parts that the Navigator's passenger door switch body is physically larger than the Expedition's. If an age appropriate Expedition ever shows up at the local junk yard I'll get the door trim to practice making it fit

Only 6 of the 8 pins on the motor are used (2 power, ground, up, down, auto). Maybe one of the other 2 would be for global open?

Dude, Amazing info. Never dug into the actual wiring, just knew the BCM was the control point without the separate door modules. It has to be connected to the BCM somehow. There was a PID I found for windows. It knew when a window was down. Probably related to the Ford Alarm system that could be installed, which our 17 had.

I wish you luck in your endeavors! We might have beat this one with a stick!

For those that want the summary.

No Global Windows, or Auto Fold in the 2015-2017 Expeditions that has been figured out at this point, and without major rework probably won't be.
