Hmm, I certainly suppose that's possible. I'll have to pay more attention now on the road for XLTs to see if they have DRLs activated.

I'm not sure about the HDC. I don't have it since mine is a 2wd truck but I do know there is a physical button for it to the right of the steering wheel. Do you have an option for HDC in the screen too?

In regards, to the VIN, seems correct. You can check your VIN to verify using line 726-44-01. The line should look like xxxx xxxx xx. Let's say it reads 3131 3933 34. Separate these into pairs of two as in:

31. . . . .31. . . . 39. . . .33. . . .34

These two digit numbers are your hex numbers.

Use this chart and covert the hex numbers into characters.

ascii-chars-landscape.jpg
Hex 31 corresponds to a Character of 1
Hex 31 corresponds to Character of 1
Hex 39 corresponds to Character of 9
Hex 33 corresponds to Character of 3
Hex 34 corresponds to Character of 4

so the last five of the VIN would be 11934.

Also I find Canadian VIN numbers using CarGurus Canada. Works like a charm:

I can attest that the neither of my Expedition XLT trucks had DRLs. Until I literally stumbled across these Forscan notes I was disappointed Ford hadn't included them on my new 2017. I see no reason to NOT want them (but, then, I see no reason for Lite beer and I hear some guys can actually drink it. :) ).

Thanks for the notes on the Sirius radio. I never listen to the radio normally but the past few week ends on long drives I found I could ***** from 1950's,,'60's, '70's, and '80's Oldies with a press of a button on the steering wheel and no local commercials.

I must be on some sort of trial subscription.

I'm running my very nice Garmin on the dash in tandem with Sync3 and when they difer I take the Garmin's guidance. Lack of accurate maps on a new truck is disappointing. There are streets where I live that were physically closed 3 or 4 years ago that still show up on the maps -- but with the Garmin I can edit them out.

I just finished reading through this entire thread. I would love to remove the headlight and fog light dash icons, among other changes once I get my dongle.

I have a 2016 XLT EL that was a rental for the first 30k miles of it's life. It came with the low beam 60% DRLs. Perhaps because it was a fleet vehicle they activated it.

No problem! Interesting about the DDM and PDM. The thing is, there is no DDM or PDM that shows up in FORScan for me for my 2015. I'm using the OBDLink MX Bluetooth Adapter, so I know it's not an issue with the adapter. I contacted FORScan about this and their response was:

"According to our database (that matches to IDS), this model has no DDM and PDM. We agree this is strange, as F-150, F-Series, Fusion, Explorer, etc. have these modules. It may be a bug in the database"

They asked me to run a few diagnostic terminal commands and send the results back to them. I'll post with the results they find. Is the DDM and PDM showing up in FORScan for anyone else?

Just an update -- after running some tests and providing the results to the FORScan team, they confirmed that there is no Driver's Door Module or Passenger's Door Module in the Expedition and speculated that their functions are implemented in the BdyCM.

Man, I go racing for a few days and I come back to ALL kinds of stuff!!! Keep it up guys. So what are the major dilemmas now, so I can dig in this week when I get some time?

I know on the Flex I have DDM but not PDM and when my passenger side mirror was disconnected all the DTCs was in the DSM and not in the DDM.

I disabled the green headlight and foglight lights in the instrument panel but put the headlight indicator back on. I only accidentally don't have the lights on Auto but it's nice to confirm the headlights are on and that light is small enough to not be so annoying as the large, seemingly blinding when the panel is dimmed, foglight light. Foglight indicator by the light switch works regardless and is on when using them as DRLs something I remain happy with.

Wish I'd known about Forscan a couple of months ago when the truck had zero miles. Engine hour meter only reads from when activated, not from stored data, so I may just use it between oil changes out of curiosity.

Apparently the DDM on the Flex controls the drivers side mirror while the DSM controls the passenger mirror.
I'm now trying to figure out auto fold (if it's even possible) and report back.

I'd say try to figure out how to enable the cluster controlled DRLs. We can turn the DRLs on/off from FORScan and activate the dash option for "Daytime Lights" but we still have yet to figure out the last variable of "un"-greying out the option in the dash.

The other feature I have been searching for is 'Secure Idle' where when the key fob is removed from the vehicle with the engine running, it cannot be shifted out of park. The F150s simply change line 726-42-01 in the BdyCM from x0xx xxxx xxxx to x1xx xxxx xxxx.

By default I have a '1' in this line, but can shift out of park when I take the key fob out of the vehicle so this empirically doesn't transfer to the Expeditions. I'll keep looking.

On the 2GFusion spreadsheet, they list the "Secure Idle" as 726-42-01 *X** **** **** as well. The Explorer spreadsheet doesn't list it for anything built before MY16, which makes me wonder if even SSV Expy's had it as a feature. Was push-button start an option on 15-17 SSV Expy's or 11-15 Explorers? If not, it may not be programmed into the firmware just like the climate menu on the IPC is not.

@LokiWolf
I concur with the DRL settings. Those of us who have it factory locked, changing it in FORScan accomplishes nothing. I'll admit it's personal, as I'm installing retrofits when I get back to my truck and the primary reason I got FORScan was to NOT pay the dealer $65 for thirty seconds of work.

I've been looking more and more, it seems that 720-02-01 **X* **** ** pertains to the DRL option in the cluster for Explorers, F150s, and Fusions, with possibly Flex's on that list as well. On the Fusion and F150, you add 4 to whatever that present value is to make the option active. In our trucks, without the option is '8' and with it is 'C', which corresponds exactly the same. Which makes me think that either: a) our trucks don't have the firmware to support making it active; or b) it's similar to the Fusion where there's lines in the BCM that controls whether IPC control is allowed.
If anyone is willing to take a shot at changing the variable at that spot to all the possibles from 0 to F and post what the results are, it'll narrow down whether the BCM is the trouble spot.
Not having my truck really puts a damper on research.

@AllBoostNoEco not sure if the '11-15' SSV Expeditions and Explorers had push-button start so perhaps maybe we don't have the firmware to support secure idle.

I'll try and play with the IPC line: 720-02-01 **X* **** ** to see if any other combinations besides '8' and 'C' do anything to activate the dash option.

Chuck new 2017 Expeditions came with a six month trial for Sirius and a 5-year subscription for the traffic reporting.

LokiWolf - We need to get together. I will bring the beer.

I would love to turn off the honk when exiting the vehicle with the engine running and having the LED fog lights turn on to be used as DRL's.

Mike next time you get out of your truck with the engine running, don't close the door all the way. You can walk away from your vehicle and it will not honk at you, I figured that out by accident. I've parked closed the door left the engine running and walked away and it honked at me. I've parked left the door unlatched with the engine running and walked away - no honk.

Somewhere in this thread someone posted how to do just that. I'm thinking that I want to turn on my fogs and my white parking lights as DLRs.

Andy, do you latch the door enough that the running boards don't go up?

I would also love to find a way to add Waze to my screen. I have an Iphone 8 and even when I plug it in I can only get Pandora or Slacker radio to work. Waze is such a good application.

Yes, just the first click and the running boards stay down.

I would rather use Waze over the factory navigation but Apple Controls whether or not Waze can be used with car play and right now it will not allow it. If you figure out how let me know. :)

I have a flex and I'm ready to try out the DRL option in the IPC and report back.
Regarding secure idle I don't think it has anything to do with push button start since it's a police option and I don't think that police interceptors is push button start.
