2015 has started giving issues with drivers front hub. When in 4H or 4A on slippery surface (icy roads, etc) it will clunk and bang as it tries to engage/disengage, instead of just staying engaged. I'm familiar with the typical IWE problems where the hub doesn't want to release when in 2H due to IWE or vacuum problems. Current problem is sort of the opposite... the hub releases when it shouldn't. They engage by spring pressure and release with vacuum, so I don't think it's a vacuum problem. I've also switched out the 4wd shift solenoid with no change. It seems it would not be an IWE problem, since they usually WON'T disengage when they fail. This one disengages when it SHOULD NOT.

Any thoughts or experience with this?

I would remove the front wheel bearing assembly and inspect the splines. I had one that would partially in gauge when off the throttle. Both the bearing assembly and the IWE needed to be replaced. Too much wear on the hub splines.
