2014 Ford Expedition EL Limited. The front wiper blade (passenger side) not working. Driver side is fine. Took it for a free diag in a local auto shop and they said to replace the wiper motor ($820). My question is how is the driver side working then with the motor? is this a real motor issue? or something else going on like a minor part for the passenger side only. Pardon my knowledge about these. My first time post. I have a mechanic who can come to my home to replace and i want to know what part to order to make this working. THANK YOU!!!

The wiper motor transmission assembly is one part - that includes the wiper motor, frame and transmission (wiper) assembly.

It cannot be serviced separately, but is replaced as an assembly.

One wiper can stop functioning due to a breakage in the transmission, while the other side still functions. It is POSSIBLE that the non-functioning wiper arm has become loose on the shaft. You can pry off the wiper arm plastic cap and see if the nut attaching the wiper arm to the shaft is tight.

If you have basic mechanical skills, they are easy to replace. Remove the two wiper arms (may require a puller), remove the two plastic air inlet grills, then the wiper transmission assembly is exposed. (Clean any debris under the grilles).

Unplug the motor, unbolt the attaching fasteners, and install the new one in the reverse. There is no programing or adjustments, other than correctly reinstalling the wiper arms. I will use a piece of painter's tape to mark the wiper blade positions on the windshield before removal, to ensure I replace them in the correct position.

Here is a picture of the assembly (the red caps are on the wiper arm attaching shafts):

I’m not sure if it will fit your vehicle.

I always used OEM Motorcraft parts. You can use online Ford parts websites, that permit you to enter your VIN to ensure you get the correct part.

Some wiper transmission assemblies may be different for vehicle with and without the rain sensitive wiper feature.

I had that exact problem with my 2014 EL LTD. I took off the cowling and saw that the ball joint had separated (lower arm in the pic above). I took it off and peened it a bit with a center punch on the rim of the "female" part of the ball joint (sounds trans?). I kept doing it until it held. Greased it up good and popped it on. It's been fine since last spring. Actually, I forgot all about it until now. Jinx??

This happened to me too. The pic shows the arm that broke off but my husband attached it back with rubber band and knock on wood it’s still working great. I tried to add the video I took showing how it’s working but can’t figure it outIMG_1112.jpeg
